    I'm not sure I like pushing Guzman to 100+ pitches in his major league debut. With the off day tomorrow, why not use the bullpen instead?

    Nice to finally get a break.....but what the heck was Hairston swinging at after Olson threw 3 walks in the inning? I know he plays the same position as Neifi but does he have to hit like him as well?

    I like the Z that actually gets a W every now and again.....especially for my fantasy team!

    Way to hang in there tonight Cubs and pull out the victory. After a rough start, Z settled down and kept us in it. Great to see the walks leading up to the 6 run 8th. Also loved seeing Murt come through and JJ with the blast. Let's make it 3 in a row tomorrow...

    We could be watching the worst lineup that the Cubs have fielded in quite some time right now. Hey Dusty, go ahead and let the pitchers hit, it's not like this lineup could ever score one run, let alone four.

    I'm really starting to hate watching this team, and all it took was two games ADL (after D-Lee). Rusch wastes what had been a very nice performance with 3 walks with 2 outs and then Dusty removes our only hot hitter from the lineup in a stupid double switch....amazing!

    Why is it that I get sucked in year after year believing that our luck is going to turn and the Cubs will put it all together. I thought things had to get better after all the injuries from the past two years. Wood we knew about...Prior we could expect, but losing D-Lee is a blow that's going to hurt for awhile. And to think I was about to buy my D-Lee pinstripes to replace my Sammy jersey now that he resigned.

    You can always become a White Sox bandwagon fan. There are plenty of those right now. Don't suggest such a horrible thing on this board...

    When have we ever seen the Cubs among the top 5 in the league in stolen bases? Before the season, I wasn't sure Dusty would take advantage of the new speed we have, but I've been proven wrong. Let's hope we keep it going.

    I'm not worried about A-Ram. Once he gets zoned it, his numbers will come up in a hurry.

    We are a little more than 2 weeks into the season, with Prior, Wood, and Miller and an ineffective Z, yet we are ranked 3rd in MLB in ERA and 1st in BAA. Okay, who else is shocked at that performance? Thanks should go to Mad Dog for an unbelieveable start and to Hendry for bolstering our bullpen with Howry, Eyre, Williamson and Dempster. It gets me pumped to think about our potential when our big guns return and Z snaps out of his funk!

    Is Dopirak hurt? I haven't seen him listed in the minor league boxes for awhile now. Anyone have any news?

    I would like to think that true Cubs fans would give a guy who essentially won our only playoff series in some 80s years by himself a bit more leeway as he works to come back from an injury. I'll always be a Woody backer.

    Boy, it's fun watching these young guys play. Murton, Cedeno and now Marshall show that the Cubs future is bright. And we've got Pie and Guzman on the way. Nice win Cubs! Now let's make it two in a row tomorrow!

    I'm happy with a 500 record until we get them back. Did anyone expect today's lineup to score alot of runs? No, but I expected our pitching staff to pitch well, considering our ace was on the mound.

    That's what happens when we swing at first pitches and early in the count. We haven't been patient since the first inning.

    That's what makes it so frustrating. Why on earth would he feel the need to throw over to third to pickoff Milton? It's not like a pitcher is ever going to try stealing home.

    Ugh, no one is saying that Z sucks, people are saying that he isn't ptiching well so far this year, becaue he isn't. I never said that Z sucks, but it's pretty clear that he hasn't reached his full potential yet. The guy just gave up a triple to the pitcher and then wild pitched him in. This is now 3 shaky performances in a row. Not good from our ace.

    You do know that Lopez is probably the 2nd or 3rd best hitting SS in the NL right? Ok, so he's a pretty good hitter, but not a major HR threat.

    I got flammed on the board a few weeks back for saying that while Z is clearly an ace pitcher, he isn't one of the elite (ie top 10) pitchers in the game. This inning really proves my point unfortunately. He sandwiches a string of Ks around a walk, HBP and HR to a weak hitter.

    Is Rusch on the Cincy payroll? This is unbelieveable!

    What's the record for HR + warning track shots in one game...GR is well on his way. I think the Rusch starting experiment is over. I'd rather see an inexperienced Guzman than this crap.
