  1. I'd rather watch a 24-hour Elmo marathon than this bunch of steaming waste of a baseball team right now...
  2. Maybe watching the AAA Marlins come through in the clutch will rub off a little on the Cubs???
  3. How often do you see a team waste a lead-off double by their pitcher?
  4. The reason Kerry Wood doesn't get win is cus he isn't clutch. IF he was a clutch like Garcia or Marquis, he would get some wins ! No, if Kerry wouldn't walk so many guys and rack up high pitch counts, he'd stay in the game longer and be able to finish what he starts. It's called using your experience to become a smarter pitcher. We have the best in the game at doing it in Maddux, but none of the other pitchers seem to take advantage of it.
  5. They are all a bunch of losers....Night after night they find new ways to lose games.....amazing.
  6. ROFL. You have GOT to be kidding me. This is Giardi exacting revenge on the Cubs. It has to be. It's also friggin' hilarious. Boy, I'd give pretty much anything to have Giardi as our manager right about now.
  7. This team truly couldn't be any worse if they tried. We are getting blown out by a minor league lineup and shutdown by a guy who we didn't even want.
  8. Officially switched over to my Red Sox uni to watch that game...I can't take anymore of this crap. And to think I actually thought the Cubs could start a winning streak against the worst team in the NL and a castoff Cubs pitcher. Boy, was I wrong.
  9. Not surprised to see we can't build on a little success....what is it with this team? You'd think we would have a pretty good idea of how to beat Nolasco, don't you think?
  10. I truly depise Sox fans, but you at least have to appreciate the way the Sox are playing. When I tune into their games, it's to watch Konerko and Thome (they're on my fantasy team) and to root for whoever they are playing. Oh, and the volume is turned off because I can't stand the windbag Hawk. I actually turned the volume up yesterday to hear if he'd actually say anything good about Pierre's great catch. All they could talk about was the liner Konerko hit...pathetic.
  11. I think Wood and Maddux coming off the books will make us the favorites to get Lee. Would you offer 4/40 for him? Not so fast about Maddux coming off the books. When we lose Wood, we might want to keep a 12-14 game winner in the 4th or 5th position. We'll have Z, Prior, Marshall and .......
  12. There's nothing better than hearing silence on the Sox broadcasts, because it means that Hawk isn't blabbering and something bad just happened to the Sox. Love to see a Cubs win today.....very nice performance by Z, and as hard to believe as it is, we had some clutch hitting as well. Now let's go get on a winning streak against the Marlins...
  13. I know I hate it when Murphy does this, but really, what's there to like about this team. No one appears to be playing with any heart right now. We never work the count despite having little to no success early in counts, our fundamentals are horrible and the sad thing is, I don't see it changing.
  14. Sorry about the language...This team just has me fired up to no end.
  15. I just got into a heated argument with my Sox-loving father-in-law whether Barrett had a right to block the plate. He said it was against the rules, but I say it was perfectly legal since the ball was a foot away. It's the only way he could have gotten [deleted] out. Plus I've seen it done dozens of times. Who's right?
  16. That's great, Dusty defends moronic play like JJ getting doubled off second on a weekly basis, or Neifi blundering bunt with two outs in the ninth, but then hangs the only guy on the entire team that's showing some heart out to dry?
  17. This team is going absolutely nowhere, and as much as I would like to believe that we can turn it around, I'm not so sure anymore. So, who do we keep? My votes go to: Lee A-Ram (although my patience is going quickly with him) Murton Cedeno Barrett Z Prior (still too young, too talented and too cheap to trade) Marshall Howry Eyre Dempster Oh yeah, the entire coaching staff should be fired after we get blown out tomorrow... Thoughts?
  18. Very clever......How bout $100 for every time we don't swing at the first pitch? I really think the Cubs could benefit from the Norman Dale philosophy from Hooisers, don't swing at the first five pitches!
  19. We continue to discover new ways to lose games.....amazing
  20. I'm fine with Wood's outing today (though I wish it had gone another inning or so). He looked very good aside from the homers of course. But if the offense doesn't improve, Wood won't matter. Not trying to be glib, but should we care how he looks or what the results are? Giving up 3 HRs in 5 innings isn't good, even if he struck out 15 batters. That's always been the problem with KW You should care how he looks, given it was his first game back, results were not the end all. But he walked nobody had a WHIP of just 1.00 and struck out 6 in 5 IP, while averaging just 14.2 pitches per inning. Those results are all very positive. You're right about the lack of walks, that's a good sign for KW...but in the end it's about production: ERA and Ws. That's why I'm not happy.
  21. Wood has settled down nicely. Only problem is that Woody ALWAYS has the tough inning or two when he gets lit up and looks solid the rest of the game Except for the fact that that's not true, you're dead on. Which part? That Wood looks solid for the majority of the game or that he always has a bad inning. It just seems like the wheels come off rather quickly for Kerry when he faces adversity.

  24. One other thing....Miller will hopefully be taking Rusch long relief position when he returns. Marshall is firmly planted in the starting rotation considering the team is 6-2 when Big Sean is on the bump.
