  1. Everybody owns the Cubs right now....and to think just a week ago we were 14-10 and looking pretty good....how Cub-like.
  2. I've been a modest Baker backer in the past, but my issue with him right now is that this team looks listless. It's his responsibility to keep the team focused and motivated, and he's doing neither right now.
  3. I'll be at the Cell next Friday for the first Cubs/Sox game. Normally I look forward to giving that dump some class by wearing my Cubs gear, but I have to admit that I'm not looking forward to it this year. I really don't need to hear 25,000 Sox fans coming up to me telling me how great they are, while we can't even field a decent team. Anyone else struggling with this one? How will you cope?
  4. I don't see how the Cubs can trade Hill or Guzman right now given that their value is not as high as it should be. We all know that Guzman got rushed to the bigs due to our injury situation, so we shouldn't be surprised at the results to date. Heck, even the phenom Hernandez in Seattle is struggling. If we think Woody won't be back next year, don't we have to keep Guzman and probably Hill?
  5. Boy is it a breath of fresh air to see Woody throwing the ball so well given all the miserable baseball the Cubs have been playing lately. I still think this is a dangerous team with a rotation of Zambrano, Prior, Woody, Maddux, Marshall/Miller and D-Lee back in the second half.
  6. This team is mediocre talent. even with Lee, we'd be losing all of these games. The pitching is just not there and one guy can't carry your offense forever (even though Lee tried his best last year). going to be 5 games out already... I'd expect our rookie pitchers to struggle, but not Zambrano. And I'd expect our offense (and especially A-Ram) to at least score 2-3 runs a game. Unfortunately everyone decided to suck at the same time.
  7. I really don't know what has happened to this team during the last week. Even after D-Lee went down, we fought hard. This entire team has collapsed against mediocre talent. I'm getting close to giving up on this pile o' crap.
  8. Why, so he can just pop up again? Oh, nevermind. Too late
  9. Wow.....15 pitches in two innings. That's pathetic, even for the Cubs. Can't we at least look like we are trying to win a baseball game?
  10. It really takes a lot for me to stop listening to the game, but this "performance" is unlistenable (if that's a word).
  11. Now that's the Guzman we all want to see!
  12. Anytime A-Ram wants to break out of this pop-up / ground out slump, it's fine by me. I'm getting a bit tired of our two best players (A-Ram and Z) stinking up the joint. It's ruining my joy of watching our young guns perform.
  13. When you say "Zamnbrano(sic) has been crap all year" and "Being the ace also means you don't melt down just about every game", you're going to get called out on it, because Z hasn't been crap all year nor has he melted down just about every game. There's a very real difference between poor performance and inconsistent performance. Say Z hasn't pitched like an "ace"(which is unnecessarily arbitrary anyway, but I digress), fine, but when you exaggerate further upon that to paint him as someone who hasn't done a positive thing all year when he clearly has people are going to catch you. What exactly has Z done that's been positive this year? He's O for the season with a ballooning ERA and WHIP.
  14. It's not the Brewers it's the pitching. We get it. You're anti-Z this year. I'm pro good pitcher. I'm not going to stand up for the guy blindly. What has he done to earn praise? Look at his numbers (not just this game but before hand). His ERA, WHIP, etc. He still has time to make adjustments but there's been little to get excited about. Haha, you can't be serious. Zambrano hasn't done anything to deserve praise this year. He's regressed pretty significantly from last year's performance.

  16. Why on earth does Dusty insist on double switches that remove our best hitters? Here's an idea, switch out A-Ram if you must, he's been worthless lately.
  17. I don't know what's worse....Jerry Angelo's bungling of the Bears draft or the pathetic performance of our pitchers the last two days. I got flamed on here a month ago for claiming that Z isn't among the few elite players in baseball yet, and unfortunately it looks like I'm right. He's wasting a lot of God-given ability right now.
  18. Sure glad I've been watching the NFL draft all day and can ignore this debacle. I think it's safe to say the Rusch experiment is over and we should return Aardsma to the minors for Hill. Brutal...
  19. I'll second that thought. I also like playing young guys. And I like our bullpen. Let's keep this going until we get Woody, Prior, Miller and D-Lee back!
  20. Blanco and Neifi = Hitting black hole. Hairston really needs to play every day at 2B
  21. Roooonnnnnnyyyyyyyyy! Man, do I love our young guys!
  22. We deserve to lose this one today....bad relief pitching from what has been a dependable bullpen so far
  23. Well, we got 2 gift runs earlier and now give them right back
