  1. Clevenger was right, but also deserved the ejection.
  2. Yahoo for pseudo-West Coast baseball.
  3. Reed Johnson must have been the glue that was holding this team together.
  4. Does that count as 7 K's in a row or does a walk break the streak?
  5. I have always loved West Coast Cubs baseball and, after watching the Cubs lose time and time again, I'm not sure why...
  6. Nah, it's just a hitter's league.
  7. What is the long term prognosis for this type of injury? Is it typically a one-time freak injury that goes away with rest or is it something that may be likely to recur?
  8. I don't see that anyone has mentioned this yet. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/334172-dodgers-irate-over-cubs-trade-ethics-breach Somehow I feel no sympathy for the Dodgers and their lowball offer.
  9. That is a nasty pitch against lefties.
  10. Out of all the places in the lineup to put Jackson, #2 seems like the one he is least suited for.
  11. I don't think so actually. The Cubs would have a huge power void in the lineup without Soriano. And while it's not ideal to have him on a rebuilding team, it's less ideal to trade him for nothing and still pay him to play for another team. The power/production isn't likely to be replaced by anyone the Cubs can reasonably sign or trade for this offseason, so Soriano does have a clear purpose on this team. I agree. I can't believe how much my opinion of Soriano has changed over the past year, but at this point I see absolutely no reason to dump him. Unless he is clearly blocking someone, which he isn't, then the Cubs might as well keep him as their starting Left Fielder. If he can put similar numbers up next year, he should have even greater trade value at the deadline with only the 1 year remaining on his contract.
  12. These call-ups makes the Cubs much more interesting for the rest of the year, but if the they were really high on Vitters I don't see the point in mixing and matching him against certain pitchers. That makes me think they aren't high on him at all and the offseason trade scenario may be likely.
  13. So much for my plans to take a trip down to Peoria before the end of the season.
  14. Did you like when it was blatantly obvious the jumbotron told them to get loud? How else are the 200 fans at the game going to know when to cheer?
  15. I know the Cubs have done a great job with defensive positioning this year, but that has to be slightly annoying for a pitcher when he gets what apparently is a routine ground out to second base and it becomes a double.
  16. Fire whoever put up the Star Wars graphic please.
  17. Is he trying to say that the amount of money we're paying makes the prospect return a virtual wash? If so, 1) way to write English for a living and 2) noooooooope. I understood his statement as a "virtual wash" in salaries, meaning that it has virtually no impact on each team's payroll, but if the Rangers are paying Dempster's salary there is no way that can be the case. I fail to understand his math.
