  1. Jim Nantz is cautioning the Tebow doubters now. Nice.
  2. Someone remind me, a 35% completion percentage is good right? I can't help but feel a little bad for John Elway. I loved watching him as a player, but he is in a situation that he absolutely cannot win.
  3. Nice...love the club option. Me too. It is a no-lose situation for the Cubs. If Wood has another good year, the team can bring him back again at a very fair price. If he doesn't, they can simply decline the option and he will most likely retire as a Cub. Any word on whether the deal includes a no-trade clause?
  4. Illinois can definitely beat any team in the Big 10, but they are just as likely to shoot 27% on any given night and lose to the worst team. Tonight's win was huge, but I'm still under no illusion that they will compete for the conference title.
  5. So can the Illini get Lou Henson to travel with the team?
  6. That last 3-pointer was just ridiculous. Paul not only had a hand in his face, but pretty much had to shoot it around an entire arm in his face.
  7. Can anyone translate? I edited to include the first tweet, he was addressing Pirates fans. Ahh, ok. It does make a little more sense when reading it as directed to Pittsburgh fans.
  8. Yep, I think MiLB.TV is a must-buy for this coming season.
  9. What is to stop a team from posting a ridiculously high amount just to prevent the player from going to another team, then low-balling the offer because they never intended to spend that much on the player in the first place?
  10. Wood's comments tonight on Sports Sunday sure make it sound like he's seriously looking elsewhere. He said something to the effect of "The Cubs are still on my list, but it's not looking as promising as it was earlier."
  11. Losing to a better team. 316 passing yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 125 rating, 10 rushes for 50 yards, 1 TD Did it all without his #1 WR against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Riiiiiiiight. The Steelers played horrid defense and somehow allowed 300+ passing yards to a QB who still can't complete 50% of his passes. I will give Tebow credit that he made some really good deep throws, but he also missed many more passes that even an average NFL QB should make. His stat line looks great, but is a little bit misleading.
  12. I would be surprised if they don't get this done next week prior to the Cubs Convention. If that doesn't happen, then I will start to doubt whether Wood will be back with the Cubs.
  13. Made possible by not overpaying for Pujols, Fielder, or Wilson.
  14. I like Cashner's potential, but I'm just not convinced that he will ever stay healthy. With that said, I like the deal.
  15. Shhh... Theo just found the new way to beat the system!
  16. I agree with most of those, but I would argue that the Pujols signing was very Hendry-like.
  17. 6-21 for 60 yards. Good luck with that next season Denver fans.
  18. I doubt that, but it has been awfully quiet lately. I thought this should be a fairly easy signing to get done... give him a 1 or 2 year deal with a raise of somewhere between $500k-$1M per season and be done with it.
  19. Is that new? My twitter says that's new. The Chicago Tribune article made it sound like someone had stepped in and banned the Cubs from any further Red Sox hires. It makes a whole lot more sense that the Cubs and Sox agreed on that arrangement and that must be considered part of the compensation. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-report-cubs-facing-ban-on-more-red-sox-hires-20111220,0,7066821.story
  20. Wow, I both love and hate social media. In some ways I miss the simplicity of reading an article in paper or watching a story on TV and not having to sift through all the Internet garbage. Everyone thinks they know "something", but they pretty much all know nothing.
  21. Or maybe, just maybe, the Cubs are acting like an organization that finally has a long-term plan.
  22. Only Jim Hendry is ok with that.
  23. The question is how are they going to get landmark status off that McDonald's?
