    So who is the projected #1 pick this year?

    I just watched the Soriano play again. Did he do that on purpose to prevent the double play? I doubt they would have turned it either way, but Soriano didn't know that so it may have been a smart play.

    Any word on whether Wood will be throwing out the first pitch, singing the 7th inning stretch, or anything of the sort?

    There has to be something going on that we don't know about. My guess is he has been dealing with a lot more arm/shoulder pain than he is willing to let on. I'm guessing it has to do with being bad and being on a bad team. He knew going into the season that he was going to be on a bad team. As for being bad, yes he has been bad but it has been more lack of control than anything. I'm pretty sure if his arm was feeling strong he would have wanted to work through his control issues and finish the season rather than just quit.

    I thought Cubs radio broadcasts would improve substantially with Santo gone, and maybe technically-speaking they have, but I don't find myself enjoying them quite as much. I find most of what Moreland says to be rather dull and, as someone else stated, unremarkable. For a radio station like WGN, in a large market with a huge following, I think they can do better. I just hope WGN is keeping their options open for when Moreland's contract expires and that it isn't a foregone conclusion that he will be extended. I can live with him, but still hope for something better.

    Just get Michael Bourn to play center and you don't even need a left fielder. He was covering a ridiculous amount of ground last night.

    I don't know the answer to the first part of your question, but no you cannot be "less mad about Thibs." Even if the injury was bound to happen sooner or later, it happened "sooner" at a completely unnecessary time.

    I seem to remember some misplays in the outfield and I just don't see LaHair being an everyday outfielder. He is serviceable enough to fill in at a corner outfield position occasionally, but I think his deficiencies would become apparent if he were to play out there on a regular basis. As for comparing his trade value to Pena, that is probably not a fair assessment. LaHair is younger, cheaper, and (if he keeps hitting anywhere near his current level) better.
