  1. A-Rod and Pavano to a homer Yankee fan for Pujols and Carpenter. This homer came out on top of that one.
  2. I'd love to see the A's finally get in. I think with their starters they could. Harden, Zito, Haren, and that shut down pen will be tough to beat and I see a lot of holes in all the other AL teams. Walker plans to be back this week, Yadi later this week, Reggie September 1st, and Rolen has no timetable. I don't see the Cardinals losing their NL crown this season. It all depends if Hudson and Hampton can be their old selves.
  3. Yeah and if God had intended man to fly...
  4. Well obviously I'd love to sign Burnett, over anyone else available but good luck keeping him out of pinstripes.
  5. IMO, Wainright = Brett Tomko Jr.
  6. :-k hmm... Don't make me bust out my commissioner powers :P
  7. See this is exactly what I was worried about with Morris. In the first half he had the best walk rate in baseball (I think I read that somewhere) but he has obviously gotten tired. So not only is he not going to be as effective in the post season as we were all banking on early in the year, but with his "lucky" stats, he'll command a lot on the open market. I don't particularly want Suppan back and I definitely don't want Marquis back. Morris will probably command more than he's worth and unfortunately there is only one Anthony Reyes to come up and take a spot in the rotation and he has health issues. We'll probably bring back Suppan with his 4mil option. This leaves Carp, Mulder, Suppan, and Reyes. Who is available on the FA market that the Yankees/Red Sox won't swallow up immediately. Couple the missing #2-3 starter in next year's rotation with 2 outfield spots to fill and Grudz being a FA and the Cardinals have a bunch of holes to fill. They plan to increase the payroll about 10mil with the new stadium revenue, but those are a lot of holes to fill. It should be interesting.
  8. I think I showed whoever signed up as wolf stansson sucks that two can play at that game. Take that son.
  9. There's around 6 people signed up so far I think.
  10. WINNAR! JK, it doesn't matter. The fact remains that Bertuzzi is an evil man. Anybody else notice that he looks exactly like Kragan from Highlander? There can be only one Bertuzzi!
  11. I didn't get to see the game tonight, and I haven't gotten to watch Matt at all since he was here in Phoenix where he looked great. Since the all-star break though he has sucked. If I go to a Cards forum for opinions I either would get "Morris sucks! Fill his spot in the rotation with Reyes! He's done! Back to 2004 form!" or "Morris is awesome. I love him. He is teh greates, just having a bad stretch". So Cub fans, I can always count on an objective to pessimistic point of view from you guys. What's the deal with Matty? Is it control, is it stuff, does it appear to be physical or psychological? Basically try to tell me what you think his problem is without the requisite "He Sox so he should die because he threw behind kery woode and i hayt him because he Sox" responses. The vast majority of you would obviously not reply like that, but if you were going to be blinded by your hate of Morris I'd rather not hear from you. Thanks guys!
  12. That being the modern era record set in 1968. As a direct result of that season (pitchers absolutely dominated) they lowered the mound 6 inches. No I think he laid that hit mainly because he loves to hurt people with an unquenchable blood lust that will one day land him in jail where he belongs after that Steve Moore hit. Or maybe I'm just letting my blinding hate for Bertuzzi blind me. But I doubt it.
  13. Yeah the media is giving Clemens a lot of attention, but every bit is deserved. This is one of the best pitching seasons ever.
  14. On Yahoo Fantasy Sports. Open to the first 49 who sign up. I thought it'd be fun to have something to discuss in the offseason other than the Cardinals World Series parade plans 8) or crazy crappy trade rumors. No spread, just straight pick the winnders. Group ID #: 7656 Password: football Good luck topping my vast knowledge of the National. Football. League.
  15. Clemens. I don't know if a pitcher has had a season like this since Bob Gibson in '68. Someone with a high speed connection and more motivation than myself should do a statistical comparison between Gibby and Rocket's seasons. That's who deserves it. Carp could easily get it because of the wins, the Cardinals record, and the St. Louis hype machine. In the past, St. Louis media and (management/players/Tony) hasn't been shy about publicly lobbying for their players to get awards. A good example was 3 years ago. Barret Jackman (my favorite hockey player) got the Calder trophy when Henrik Zetterberg probably was more deserving. In fact Zetterberg won the players/coach vote for R.O.Y., but Jackman won the media vote for the Calder largely due to the local lobbying. Of course I'd rather Carp get it just because I have a huge hetero man crush on him.
  16. I would tend to agree with you if I saw those guys stats. Unfortunately I'm lazy and will only go from what I've seen and say Grudz is having a better year.
  17. Average or below? Hmm... I'd say he's in the top 10 which would put him above average. Also, don't open the Carpenter - Clemens can of worms. That's another argument altogether and deserves it's own thread if you want to discuss it.
  18. It feels alright. :P Let's just say it felt a lot better last year. After the World Series, it has most Cardinals fans feeling that anything less than a World Series ring would be a failure. Especially after what we gave up to get Mulder. Edit - For some reason I wrote Carpenter instead of Mulder. I had Carp on the mind I guess.
  19. Pettite has never been a dominating guy in his entire career. He is definitely playing over his head lately.
  20. Barrett just rubs me the wrong way because of how he handles himself in the media. I just thought he was too young and not good enough of a player to be speaking out against his teammates, downgrading other team's success last season (Houston, St. Louis), and I thought he handled himself poorly in the media after the Oswalt situation. I think he should take care of business on the field and star away from the press. Just my opinion.
  21. You're stacked at receiver dude. Abort!
  22. I'll PM info as soon as I set it up.
