  1. Care to back up your position with any statistics? Nah.
  2. I reread your post and understood what you said and edited my post. I was confused for a second and didn't realize you were agreeing with me.
  3. If you're convinced that batting average is a very important stat, moreso than OPS or OBP, then you probably won't think much of Dunn. I see. Well, we have the comfort of knowing we are right. That's always nice.
  4. Chris Carpenter may or may not be a god. If not a god at least a demigod. Carp is a freaking joke. I can't remember a streak like this. Tonight 7.2, 9k's, 2 bb, 0er, 5 hits. He is now 1st in wins, 2 back in K's, 1st in cg, 1st in sho, 3rd in era, 2nd in innings, and has given up 1 run in his last 33.2 innings. For those scoring at home, that is a .3 era. That math is probably wrong considering I suck at it. Discuss.
  5. I just saw a commercial for it on ESPNNews. I didn't catch them all, but I did see Tejada, Abreu, and Jason Bay. Seriously, Jason Bay is a good player, but just because Larry Walker is old and Canada no longer sports a premier hitter doesn't mean he should get in just for the token canadian factor. Tejada is great, but one entry from the Dominican just ruled out some incredibly entertaining bats. I know it doesn't matter, but it's a lot of fun and this has made it far less entertaining.
  6. Why can't we just run the 8 best homerun hitters out there? Manny, A-Rod, Texiera, Vlad vs D-lee, AP, Dunn, C-Lee That's who I want to see.
  7. I could live without the home run derby, but it's obviously a fun exhibition and good for the fans. I just heard that this year it's going global. 8 players from 8 countries compete for their country. ??? Why? I don't see the point. Why mess with it?
  8. I ran into a lot of this with Dunn detractors at Cards talk. Just try to tell me what not to like about a young guy who can hit 50 bombs, drive in 110+, score 100+, and has an ops over 1000? Maybe I'm not as on the ball as all his detractors, but I have a hard time finding whats wrong with that. So he whiffs like no other? He still gets on base .380+!
  9. I haven't really commented on too much beyond the point someone made citing Kline's antics last year as evidence that Tony's players don't respect him. After that was quickly refuted I haven't really had much to say about anyone's assessment of Tony. Most have been fair. He whines a lot, and he loves the gamesmanship, but I think that is part of what makes him the manager that he is. I was just defending vaball because you called him a troll and I didn't think what he said was troll worthy.
  10. Walker has already said he can't physically play everyday or near to it and wouldn't mind taking on more of a bench role. Wells can play all OF positions and could bounce back and forth spelling all three guys. To get Wells the Cardinals would probably have to give up Marquis + Wainright + low level crappy prospect or career AAA'er. I'd do that in a second.
  11. A man can dream. Take away everything and stick him with a geriatric outfield and a man still has his dreams.
  12. Here are some quality examples of trolling from just tonight. I could go back every night of a Cardinals loss and find similar instances. http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=266564 http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=266539 http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=266575 Unfortunately, unlike this board the moderators over there pay absolutely no attention to trolling and these guys won't get banned.
  13. I just want to say I agree. I have him in one of my leagues and turned down a trade offer for him and Z straight up. As for the game, well we lost to their best pitcher who happens to also be Cardinals kryptonie (lefty who locates). I will say this though. The only thing that makes a down stretch against teams we should beat tolerable is the fact that we haven't lost any ground in the standings.
  14. It is relevant. It illustrates that as compared to another manager that DesMoinesCub knows a lot about, Tony doesn't let his players walk all over him. I wasn't arguing beside the point, I was using LaRussa's tactics as compared to Dusty's tactics as evidence to prove my point.
  15. Have you been keeping track of your total votes? I wouldn't be surprised if you were solely responsible for D's 40,000 vote differential.
  16. Clearly you weren't paying much attention to Tony's "If Steve really did that than my foot is going to be on his throat in about 2 minutes" comment. Kline didn't get into a game for a week and was left on the DL longer than expected. Then of course, he wasn't resigned as is obviously not happy about being in Balitimore. If you are insinuating that LaRussa's players don't respect him than you are just ignorant of the situation. Hopefully you aren't a Dusty fan saying that or I would be forced to bring up mulitple incidents from last year to illustrate Dusty's respect from his players.
  17. You mean to tell me this is yours? Yeah. I love...broccoli. Then you wouldn't mind eating some right now? Now? Yeah. VILE WEED!!!
  18. My man big AP himself did an interview saying how pumped he is for the world's. If that reflects other latin guy's sentiments, it could work. I've heard they are playing a lot of it here in Phoenix since it will be in the offseason. If that's true than it would be a fun time.
  19. DARN COMMUNISTS! Screw Sully and all of his ilk! :P
  20. That sounds about right. I'd say 12-15. I'm ticked because I'll be in Romania during that series. I've got to find a way to get to a computer.
  21. I think it is a combination of our team's success regardless of LW's performance and the fact that he is old as dirt. There's a difference between a 37 year old who's salary we aren't paying the majority of and a 25 year monstrous talent to shocks you with his pure ability one day then complete wussiness the next. Add to that disappointment a huge bonus baby contract. We know Larry isn't a part of the Cards future, but we were expecting JD to be our cornerstone for the next 10 years or so. Luckily we stumbled upon the best hitter of a generation and were able to kick 'ole Jonathan David to the curb while we could still get some value from him.
  22. They are shoo-ins if they get all the way to the veterans committee. There aren't two more respected guys who are more well liked.
