  1. Ozzie's first ballot landslide is more a direct result of his image and highlight reels than his actual value as a player. His backflips, the HR in the '85 NLCS (Go crazy folks), and his defensive "wizardry" got him in. He was far from a great player (ducks flying objects from fellow Cards fans).
  2. That's a tad harsh, the man only has 8 posts. I haven't seen anythin ban worthy.
  3. I like it. I get a tad emotional, but that's a good thing.
  4. Booyah son. We gots Arkansas! http://www.wmattmeyer.com/archive/image/crack-pipe6557.jpg Stop it man. Crack kills. I'm from Central Illinois. I've probably met less than 10 people south of Joliet who are Sox fans.
  5. I have. Z's almost no-hitter or perfect game on the non-error call. Funniest thing I've ever heard on a baseball game. Pat was trying to play if cool and act like nothing happened.
  6. Crap. You passed me. I was hoping Vance would roll over at the last second so I could keep the 3 spot. Thanks a lot Vance.
  7. Wow. I've been in Romania for 2 weeks, and I was expecting to drop a spot or two. I'm actually up to third? I should not manage my team more often. I could actually overtake Vance this week. It's 8-2 right now. Hey Truffle - Looks like Napoleon Dynamite changed his name in response to larry needs a walker.
  8. Or a good fastball. Or someone with good command. Or...
  9. Yeah, maybe the reason nobody talks about the curse of the White Sox is because nobody cares. Their fan base is almost exclusively Chicago. Outside of the city it's nonexistent, and in the city they still play second fiddle. They also haven't had as many good players. Name some Cub greats and any baseball fan will rattle off Banks, Williams, Wilson, Jenkins, Santo, Sandberg, Dawson, Sosa, etc, etc... White Sox great players? Hmm.... Just not a very compelling organization. Where Boston had their very famous protagonist and the Cubs have the loveable loser mantra, the White Sox have nothing really.
  10. FWIW - Piazza is the starting catcher. Not only is there the well documented volatile relationship between him and Clemens, but he can't throw anybody out. Carpenter has only allowed 1 SB as a Cardinal. Willis is one of only two (I think) lefties and will be used for a matchup later probably, and will definitely be in the game when LoDuca is catching.
  11. Umm... I could've read his post wrong, but I don't think Vance was offering himself. The man is married and clearly heterosexual. The proof is in his sig.
  12. But no sac fly so he is obviously a horrible baseball player.
  13. Wow. Those Schilling kids are going to be the snobbiest, most outspoken brats ever. Can't wait for that reality show. And it will happen. Schilling will get sick of not having any cameras in his face all the time after he retires.
  14. Whatever. I'm not denying that Jim hollywood's a lot of plays, but he didn't on this play. I was there. He went as straight back as he could. He did what you're supposed to do. Run back, pick up the ball, run to it. He wouldn't have made it if he was looking over his shoulder the whole time.
  15. Especially considering they could both pitch against Houston in the series before. Oh well...I think the Cubs are the better team anyway.
  16. And I love him for it. His antics always entertain me. From hopping out of the batters box on a borderline inside pitch to his diving.
  17. Yeah, Barry Weinberg had a rough night. First Larry waved him off then Tony went out there with him to make sure he didn't get waved off. Later, when Molina got beaned in the hand he went out to check him out and Yadi did a sweet spin move to pull the injured hand away so Barry couldn't see it. Tony went out there and had to pull him off the field. The guy REALLY didn't want to come out. After he went into the dugout, he tried to come back out, but the ump had to tell him that once you get pulled and enter the dugout you can't come back in.
  18. The only thing worse than a guy over 13 bringing a glove is bringing a friend to the game, and him bringing a glove. Don't impose on your buddies image by dragging him down that dork by association path.
  19. That's funny, because I only know of one Sox fan. Slight exaggeration. I actually know four Sox fans. And one likes the Sox and the Cubs so he doesn't really count.
  20. Fly ball to the deepest part of the park and Edmonds had to go back, dive, go almost completely horizontal, and backhand it in the air. Knocked the wind out of him pretty bad. He was on the ground for a good 30 seconds. It was an incredible catch. IMB doesn't know the half of his performance. It was hilarious. For the rest of the inning kept rubbing his stomach and bending over. Every once in a while he'd squat down and put his head down. Quite dramatic. http://images.stltoday.com/stltoday/resources/edmonds08big.jpg
  21. Kruk doesn't get love from anyone I know. Nor should he.
  22. that's fine, she's not really all that hot. I agree. And I saw her in person at Sunday's game. She was wearing a ridiculously BRIGHT yellow dress.
  23. Yep. Stoney called it too. Who says he wouldn't be a great manager?
