  1. Maybe like we discussed they are going to low ball Mat on the contract offer and not care if he doesn't take it, since at least he is not going to the yanks...
  2. Funny thing I always thought it was a glove never noticed the MB, but then again I nver really looked closely at it. I think we could use a uniform change, too. Keep the pinstripes of course and the road greys but change the alternate home jersey. Get rid of the walking cub logo its lame. Go back to the dark navy shirts with the "C" and the bear with the bat or the brown pinstripe that they have worn in the past. Yes! I hate hate hate the blue alternate jersey that the players seem so fond of.
  3. That's crazy! I understand Cashman is trying to get the best possible deal for Sheffield, but to turn down both The Phillies deal that included Gavin Floyd and a Padres deal that included Scott Linebrink, is beyond insane. Everybody knows that Yankees are trying to trade Sheffield, and everybody knows Sheffield no longer wants to be a Yanks. So to turn down either deal, is beyond idiotic, and I hope they can't trade Sheffield, cause you know Sheffield will tear ANY chemistry that team might have to pieces. What is so crazy about turning down a Gavin Floyd deal? Have you seen his numbers the last two years? He is not the prospect he once was.
  4. no way. It is somewhat obvious that it is a "db" There are still people who are just first realizing that the ball and glove logo has an mb in it. You guys just blew my mind  . I had NEVER noticed that. I'm with you you, Davhern. I read that and immediately googled the old brewers logo - what a great, great logo! in my defense, I never watched baseball while the MB was is use. (when did they use it? i wonder if I was even alive) I think 92 or 93 was the last year they used it as a full time logo. They did bring it back for their "retro sundays" this year
  5. oh wow. Sounds like he would be great for team chemistry.

  7. I know I have seen a pronounciation somewhere before, but could someone refresh my memory?
  8. Maybe they leaked it intentionally when they actually plan to bid higher so as to try and lower the other teams bids.
  9. I always head into elections with the realization that my vote will simply cancel out someone elses vote. This year, I choose you. Topinka may not be any better than 'Balogna Man', but she cannot be any worse. Vote green then.
  10. I agree with what you said about Wuertz, Eyre, and Howry. Heilman has some potential, but right now he is the Glendon Rusch of the Mets (filling in where needed and doing a mediocre job). One of our young pitchers or prospects ought to be enough. Trading them Izturis would be great. Have you even looked at his numbers? He is an extremely far cry from Rusch. 87 ip/ 73 h/ 5 hr/ 28 bb/ 73 k/ 1.16 whip/ 3.62 era 66 ip/ 86 h/ 21 hr/ 33 bb/ 59 k/ 1.79 whip/ 7.46 era who is who?
  11. I guess you could also probably argue that anything any player does on any team besides the world series champions is meaningless.
  12. I'm guessing that it won't be after the season they just had.
  13. Sure make Pujols sound like a jerk.
  14. I don't think there is any way that Jones actually gets 20 million per year.
  15. no more draft and follows  uniform signing date of August 15 compensation for unsigned first and second rounders is a pick one spot lower (an unsigned 5 would be a 6) in the next years draft. compensation for an unsigned third rounder is a 3/4 sandwich pick in the next years draft. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/news/262720.html also from the article: Also the length of time before a player must be protected on the 40 man roster or subject to the rule 5 draft increased by one year. signed age 19 or above: from three years to four signed age 18 or below: from 4 years to five this goes into affect this offseason, so some guys which we had originally thought needed to be protected now have another year before they will be exposed to the rule 5.
  16. fortunately, the 1st round is protected. If the same rules apply, then, yes, the Cubs first round pick is protected....but only because the '06 Cubs were so very, very bad. Their pick would have been protected even if there were 14 worse teams though.
  17. Except for you have just described Juan Pierre. not really. (notice the bolded statement)
  18. the big lebowski! shaun of the dead and, please don't hate me for this choice: freddy got fingered.
  19. More than half of the AL had more wins than the Cards!
  20. "have".... not "of"...let's repeat.."have"...not "of" As an employee of WGN and/or the Cubs, Stone should have (not of) never made the details of this confrontation available to the public. I agree that Merker didn't make a great decision in calling the booth to discuss. However, Steve Stone is ultimately the one that made this an issue for his employer. =D> one of my biggest pet peeves.
