    Because Hendry isn't going to fix the OF and Cantu will give the middle infield a decent bat. He is capable of hitting 3rd or 4th do you think that Theriot or Cedeno could do that? 3rd or 4th? Have you seen his numbers this year? He has been downright awful. I know he had a decent year last year (great in the power department) but he is far from a middle of the order hitter.

    Hendry apparantly turned down a package of top prospects because he was drooling over Izturis. Thats what angers me about the trade.

    I'd love him to add another pitch. I thought he added a change at some point? He did -- he just needs to use it a little more. Does anyone know how much he used it while at iowa? From what I remember reading on here, it seemed like it was at least an adequate pitch.

    When comparing Wrights new contract to what Aramis could get, you have to consider that Wright still has a few arbitration years left, in which the 9 million average would be a considerable raise. Anyone know how the new Wright contract is structured and how many arby years were bought out?

    Grudzielanek has a club option next year. My guess, and this is pure speculation, is that the Royals will pick it up. Grudzielanek is one hell of a player. A perfect 2 hitter on a playoff team. Puts the ball in play, dosent strike out much, and moves the runner over. grudzielanek is not very good and isn't getting any younger. this notion that he's some kind of small-ball god isn't accurate either. he had 2 sacrifices last year for the cardinals in 563 PA's. he's become a simple slap hitter that doesn't get on base well and would consider himself successful if he hits the ball out of the infield. simply because he has a stubble-beard, short arms and legs, no neck and appears to be a "gritty little ballplayer" that conventional minds would value, doesn't mean that anyoner values him anymore. he's not good. Grudzielanek is a good baseball player. Solid with the glove, he will have is BA around .290 each year, his OBP will be around .330. He puts the ball in play. He wont be that 10hr guy, but thats not what kind of player he is. He was a huge factor for the 03 Cubs. Not a vocal guy, but he leads by example. Ten homer guys do tend to be really hard to find.

    I don't know the ins and outs of the whole waiver situation, but is it possible he already knew what it would take since Hendry and Schuerholz are pretty good friends? I agree with Ronnie on this one. A quick phone call and you know what the price could be. Hendry has already said on WGN that they are looking toward next year. Hendry would see a claim on A. Jones as a move for a team in the race. It would be very bad form, breaking the unwritten rules, to put in a claim on Jones. That is a bunch of bull. (not towards what you say, but towards hendry if this is the case) Getting a CF like Jones would help you immensely next year and something that you absolutely have to explore. Who cares if it may make some team cry because they wanted him for a stretch run.

    How do doubleheaders that are back to back work, ticket wise? Me and my friends had tickets to last nights game (got completely soaked) so would we only be able to get refunds, while the people with tickets to todays game get two games for the price of one?

    What makes me the maddest about this deadline is the fact that Hendry is excited about Izturis. He apparantly turned down premier prospects for him. If he would have just had to settle for Izturis I would be quite a lot less mad.

    I laughed out loud and puked at the same time. I hate Jim Hendry more than ever right now. After first hearing it was for Izturis I was pretty upset, and then I found out Izturis' contract. Now I come home to find that Hendry might have turned down a package involving Kemp or Guzman and I am considering officially switching my alligiences until there is a regime change in the front office.

    I think this is what the people who wanted to keep Maddux unless something good was acquired, feared. I am quite unhappy, to say the least.
