  1. The words intelligence and Cubs Management represent a contradiction in terms.
  2. How long did Baker go with a 1-2 of Patterson and Perez? Nuff said...
  3. With the exception of Maddux' starts the oppostion M.O. has been to take pitches and its worked pretty well, why can't the Cubs learn from this? As simplistic and pathetic as it may be, taking pitches leads to more base runners which in turn leads to more runs. etc. Yesterday was a perfect example, the Braves were going to take and continue to take pitches vs Prior. Had Prior consistently thrown strikes he'd probably thrown a 2 or 3 hit shutout.
  4. Giles 2003 hr/ab - .039, 04-.021, 05-.018 along with a decreasing BA, interesting...NL pitchers making adjustments?
  5. Mr. K with the unfortunately all too predictable K...
  6. Mr. OBP (Lawton) with another great at bat, so far as a Cub he's drawn one BB and had one other 3-2 (that I can recall) count. What's up? Is he trying too hard or has already bought into the Baker philosophy of swing at everything and anything?
  7. I know Prior K'd three that inning but, is just me or has he lost alot of batters he was initially ahead of in the count 0-2 or 1-2? More so than 2003 annd 2004...
  8. "How can I do that, Dude? Dempster has saved us man!" I don't believe that would be a good move, Dempster' been so effective because he can let all fly for one inning. As a starter he'd have to pitch with the next at bat in mind and at a certain pace. Speaking of Wood, how fun was it watching him follow Maddux the other night? After seeing Maddux, Rusch or Williams for 7 innings, the opposition might as well concede three outs for Wood' inning. They've no chance...
  9. I believe Nomar should be re-sign as well, given what has happened the past two seasons, I also believe he'll take whatever deal the Cubs offer.
  10. With rare exception the Cubs starting pitching has been a joke, it would have to be to give up 6+ runs to one of the weakest lineups in the NL. Nine walks would make any lineup more potent, even one as weak as the Astros. Yet another pathetic display by these worthless 2005 Cubs.
  11. give me a break. :P Its just like everything else the Cardinals do or thouch, it turns to Gold.
  12. I'm certain the Cubs will end up losing but, one cannot help being optimistic about tonight's game. With the present Cardinal lineup there's the very real possibility Prior shut's them down perhaps, throws a two or three hitter. Of couse, they'll probably end up losing as we'll be forced to listen to Miller and Morgan babble all night about the Cardinal' being the NL' best team. By the way, if the current Cardinal lineup represents the NL' best team, the NL doesn' have a chance in the WS.
  13. I heard a comedian once describe Herman Munster as history' first gay monster.
  14. Beyond a doubt the luckiest team in the NL, they're also good. Why can't you guys just give us credit? We've been a great team for over a year and half now. This isn't a flukey ride of luck. I'll give the Cards credit. The luck excuse is pure crap. The Cards are probably the best team in baseball this year and were the second best last year. Last season, I thought they'd lose in the World Series, but I'm more concerned that they'll win it this year. Oh, I don't like the Cards at all, though. I'd root for the White Sox over them in the World Series. If they don't get Rolen, Walker and Sanders back, they're not going to the WS with their present lineup.
  15. Beyond a doubt the luckiest team in the NL, they're also good. Why can't you guys just give us credit? We've been a great team for over a year and half now. This isn't a flukey ride of luck. How many Nunez', Womack', Rodriguez' and the various bullpen re-treads going to keep coming up Golden? Don't get me wrong the Cards are good and deserve all the credit but, you've got to admit they've had an incredible amount of things go right.
  16. Beyond a doubt the luckiest team in the NL, they're also good.
  17. When was the last time Walker did anything with men on base besides GIDP?
  18. Bo Hart comes to mind as well as Nunez. Wasnt Nunez a Pirates bench warmer? Nunez classic example, Pirates bench warmer, lifetime .249 hitter, never came within .38 points of .300 yet, hitting .315.
  19. The Card's are very good and such but, how is it Minor League re-treads like John Rodriguez hit .295 for them? Everything they touch turns to Gold, its amazing.
  20. I got him down for this line..... AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Lawton 34 2 8 2 0 0 10 3 1 4 0.235 0.257 0.294 0.551 Thanks, in either case, I knew his line since joining the Cubs has been very poor.
  21. Maybe Lawton will let it come to him today, since joining the Cubs he's roughly(quick glance at SportsLine Game Log) 5-25, 1BB, .240 OBP, I believe he may be trying too hard to make something happen.
  22. Sorry Card fans but, if Pujols is 25 years old then Jose Macias is 6'2''...
  23. Nunez with a Garciapparra (pop up) to third? Another 1-2-3 inning? What's up with that?
  24. Mulder has thrown more pitches than Maddux, something is seriously wrong here...
