  1. Why not go up there and take every pitch Walker?! I don't believe this clown could throw three K's before he threw 4 balls.
  2. Whereas I agree that you have a lot of very good reasons to have that opinion, it is still just an opinion. To call it a fact, and a simple one at that, is just inaccurate. Regardless of the outcome its highly probable that neither of these teams is going to come remotely close to the playoffs. Does that get the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval?
  3. Regardless of the outcome the simple fact is neither of these teams is going to come remotely close to the playoffs.
  4. That same pitch was called a strike on Perez!!!!!!!!
  5. That'll work it if Welke is consistent however, with his floating strike zone probably not.
  6. So how many pitches does it take BP Seo to retire the Cubs 1-2-3 this inning? I'm going with 13.
  7. Leave it to Maddux to get their first hit vs this BP pitcher!
  8. Surprised that wasn't called a ball as well...
  9. I'm biased of course but, that was strike 3, I guarentee at some point in the game Seo will get that very same pitch!!!!
  10. Brenly, he knew form day 1 that a 1-2 of Patterson-Perez was the worst possible 1-2 the Cubs could put out there. Of course, that's not saying much, my 3 year old son knew it wasn't a good idea as well.
  11. Wouldn't it be something if the Cubs(as the only other team in WC contention) go into that last series of the season trailing the Astros by 3 games and sweep it?
  12. Fantastic! I agree with most posts, he was huge disappointment, never performed up to what he was paid. And most importantly its one less pitcher for Dusty to misuse!
  13. From the end of the article: The players know the fundamentals. Getting them to perform them is another story. Baker said it's up to the catcher to remind them to cover first. "Most of the time when you [goof] up something, it's something you've done over and over and over again," Baker said. "You take it for granted that you know it already. You just have to remind them. Those were very simple, fundamental mistakes. "Maybe it was contagious last night." The catcher has to remind the pitchers to cover first? That's akin to my manager reminding me, a database programmer, to login prior to running a database query. Now I know why so players would love to play for Dusty. What other Manager will allow them to make the same mistakes over and over yet, defend them and make excuses as to why the mistakes are made?
  14. This game' over, hope the Astros lose tonight, simply pathetic...
  15. Think the Cardinals or Astros would have at least moved the runner to third Todd Walker?
  16. This team could begin every inning with a runner at third and still not score!!!!
  17. I gotta believe there were some heated words exchanged in last night' Cubs locker and not by the person would should've been in Williams', Rusch' and Barrett' faces - Baker.

    If

Not gonna happen. This season is over. They'll dink around and keep it close until the end of September, completely collapse in Houston on the closing weekend and whine about how much energy they expended in August and September trying to "stay close." Of course if they played with a sense of urgency all season they wouldn't have to expend all that energy in August and September... That's the most likely scenario; I was just trying to put a positive spin on the last two months of the season. The most frustrating aspect of the season has been watching this team underachieve, the tools are there, once again with the Cubs and Baker – coulda, woulda, shoulda…
  19. Its amazing how every pitcher, save for Maddux, has forgotten how to cover first base on a gb to the right. Heck, whether the 2b or 1b fields the ball or not, shouldn't the pitcher break towards 1b on EVERY gb to the right of the infield?
  20. Early in the season we knew Houston wasn't as bad as they were playing, presently they're not as good as they're showing, they're going to come back down to earth. When they do, the Cubs will have a shot but, they bettter get their collective heads out their collective asses real soon.

    If

Only two years? I've been waiting for the if's to turn into reality all my life.
  22. Its a good idea however, if Wood goes 3-4 innings on a given day, that means he'll be unavailable for what, 2-3 days? I know I'm being optimistic but, I'm envisioning a 7th, 8th and 9th of Wood, Williamson and Dempster or, when Maddux is pitching a 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th of Wood, Wood, Williamson and Dempster. Basically, an effective trio of Wood, Williamson and Dempster will make it a 6 inning game, all the Cub starters will have to do is get to the 7th with a lead.
  23. K's are not the be-all-end-all. You can be effective getting grounders and pop-ups. What is it Brenly has repeatedly said? Location, location, location...
