  1. Pierre was at his pathetic worst We can piss and moan all we want about Hendry picking him up, and it clearly wasn't a good move, but no one could've predicted he'd be this bad during a contract year. IMO he had the potential to be this bad as well as hitting 290. I didn't like the trade as well but, I thought at the very least, it would be an improvement over what they had last year. Never did I believe Pierre would be worse than Patterson.
  2. Nationals' catcher probably told Neifi there was only one out therefore, he thought he was moving the tying run into scoring position. There is a team that play would have worked on but, the Cubs can't play themselves.
  3. Was the notice composed with a word processor such as Word? If so, someone should alert him to the spell checker.
  4. All you need know about Baker and whether or not the players are held to any sort of a standard can be summed up by this - prior to yesterday's game, Pierre and Perez were dancing in the dugout.
  5. I can deal with the Cubs getting beat because the opponent is better but, I cannot accept pitchers failing to cover first base, runners getting doubled-off the bases on fly balls, outfielders missing the cut-off man - that is directly attributable to Dusty. Its obivious he doesn't stress fundamental play nor does he hold anyone accountable for the repeated mentals errors - he never will. Baker has got go and be replaced by someone who's going hold a player accountable for not hustling or stupid mistakes.
  6. And perhaps the pitching coach has something to do with that. maybe. they seem to like to nibble the edges a lot. I agree, how many times have we seen Prior get ahead 0-2 only to run the count full. Giving 8 and 9 runs to these lineups is pathetic, beyond the Cubs, the Padres and Giants have two of the poorest lineups in the NL. Combined they have two quality hitters - Giles and Bonds - two more than the Cubs of course.
  7. Too bad our #2 hitter can't accidentally walk in front of a speeding cement mixer after the game. Neifi's the equivalent of a pair of cheap sun glasses.
  8. Someone' got to replace Jones as the K-machine.
  9. Going back to the last series- how many consecutive at-bats has Roberts reached base? When did he all of sudden learn how to hit?
  10. Which lineup is worse the Cubs or the Padres? Its pretty close...
  11. How does a guy like Jamey Wright make to the show and manage to hang around for 11 years? 63-91 W-L, 5.11 ERA lifetime stats, took a look at his Minor League stats - nothing spectacular. Haven't looked but, I'm guessing the Cubs are the only team he's had success against - typical.
  12. i do I believe the Cubs are up to their old tricks of withholding what's truly wrong with Prior, what's the next "illness" that's going to set him back? Leprosy? Why don't they just come out with it? I don't what "it" is but, there's something wrong.
  13. 25 pitches? Does anyone really believe Prior' going to pitch at all this season?
  14. How about some intensity or fire today? I wish some one on this team had strong enough leadership skills or the guts to confront Jacque Jones and say something like - "You get doubled off on a fly ball again and we're going!!" or to Juan Pierre - "Miss the cut-off man again and I guarentee I wont' miss..."- well, this is family site. Because the person who should be doing these things, Baker, never will.
  15. And despite the fact the going to sweep the Cubs tonight, I still believe their collection of crap is worse than the Cubs collection of crap.
  16. If they listened to Sarge, they'd be quite a bit better off, .364 lifetime OBP (including .410 in '84). I'm thinking the Sarge knows the value of working the pitcher and taking a few pitches. why then, doesnt Sarge teach that? I don't know but, I do remember him being a fairly patient hitter, maybe he's tried but, Dusty dimissed him/it as not being aggressive enough.
  17. If they listened to Sarge, they'd be quite a bit better off, .364 lifetime OBP (including .410 in '84). I'm thinking the Sarge knows the value of working the pitcher and taking a few pitches.
  18. Its extremely frustrating listening to crap on stick that is Roberts and Cameron get on base and score, while Pierre can't even hit the cut-off man!
  19. The sad, pathetic part of the recent Cubs play is they’re making Arizona and San Diego look good, did anyone notice that garbage the Cubs lost to Saturday? Beyond Giles and Greene - Eric Young in LF?, a declining Vinnie Castilla at 3B? Cameron with a robust .202 avg in CF? Not exactly a star laden lineup...
  20. At least Pierre hit a line drive! I didn't believe he was capable of that!
  21. Does anyone really think Z's going to throw less than 25 pitches this inning? or not issue any BB's?
  22. Pierre with a lead off walk? Miracles do occur!!
  23. I'm guessing he's got a hang nail on his pitching hand that's going to set him back another week.
  24. How could his fingers be cold when he's surfing 24/7?
