    I know it was asked earlier but, does Wuertz have any options left? If so, he needs to go, if not cut him.

    Its no secret why Wuertz is for the most part ineffective he can't throw strikes on a consistent basis, how many time does he start a batter off 2-1 or 2-0?

    Am I the only one who believes Dunn is way too comfortable facing the Cubs? Why not a few brush back pitches or a little chin-music during his next AB?

    Especially since he'll be starting for Rusch next game. Williams is joining the rotation in the 5th spot on April 15th. We're still stuck with Rusch, who's scheduled to go again on the 16th. What do you think the odds are that Guzman gets the call up to pitch for Rusch? Don't go and get my hopes up. If Rusch has another terrible outing and Guzman continues going well (I believe he went 5 scoreless, with 5K in his first outing) I believe it'll be impossible not to replace Rusch with Guzman. I don't know remember Estes in 2003? Baker to learn from mistakes? Ok, impossible, we're stuck with an automatic L in the rotation.

    Very well put, and a great perspective on what we hav e seen so far. I agree, let the Reds tee off on Rusch, Maddux vs. Claussen and Zambrano vs. Milton the next two, Cubs should have a pretty good chance to win the Series.

    Next at bat, Dunn needs to hit the dirt, what's he going do? Get upset and hit a HR?

    Unfortunately, Jim Bowden is no longer in Cincy. Arroyo' nothing special either, better than Rusch but, still an average starter at best.

    Granted Rusch is terrible however, I'd like to see a few inside pitches or brush backs, these Reds hitters are far too comfortable at the plate.

    BBTN can go on and on about the Card's trio of Pujols, Rolen and Edmonds but, the key to their success the past two seasons has been the bullpen. I don't think the retread trick is going to work this year with Flores, Rincon and Looper, its early, they'll probably improve but, its not going to be at the level of the last two seasons.

    No love for Wuertz? I thought we broke camp this year with 11 pitchers. I thought it was twelve for some reason. Irrespective of my gaffe in that regard, not using Wuertz in the first few games isn't a cardinal sin. In close games, most especially with runners on, I don't want to see Wuertz, he can't consistently throw strikes. As we saw last night, to be an effective reliever, or starter for that matter, a pitcher has throw strikes.

    Like? I love what the Cardinals have done with their bullpen! The last two years, the Cards win the game 4-3, this season, as long you're within a few runs you've got an excellent chance to pull the game out. When they (Cubs) were down 4-3, I thought if Williams can give them a couple of scoreless innings, they'll win. Finally, it appears as if the Cardinals run of striking Gold with every journey man reliever may be coming to end. This (the Cardinals) is the team that Harold Reynolds believes is hand over fist the best team in the NL and the WS favorite? Of course, he also believes Alfonso Soriano is great hitter, one of the best in Baseball.

    We all knew he was and is flat out bad, unfortunately, Hendry missed the Memo. Seriously. who was the scout who recommended Jones? He should be fired. Wasn't Hendry interested in Jones for the past two or three seasons? I don't believe he was going on the recomendation of any Scout.

    Maddux at 74 pitches thru 6, are you watching Zambrano and Rusch? Pretty simple, get the ball, throw strikes.

    While I would love to see it....does anyone think we'll actually see this staff for even one full time through the rotation this year? much less several turns through? Just curious if I'm the only one who doubts we'll see all 5 of those guys at the same time for any extended period of time. I'll take further, I don't believe we'll ever see Prior and Wood in the rotation for one full time let alone the for an extended period. I'll keep hoping and dreaming though... I predict we'll have both Wood and Prior together for at least the last two weeks in May, and all of June (barring another linedrive off of the pitching arm type of freak injury). Here's hoping you're prediction is correct.

    What's the longest a batter has gone hitless to start the season? 100 AB, 200 AB? I think Jones has an excellent chance to go 0 for April and May.

    Let me get this straight the Cubs opening day starting OF of Jones, Pierre and Murton is amongst the worst in Baseball. Yet, the Cardinals OF of Encarnacion, Edmonds and Taguchi is the OF of a WS caliber team?
