  1. I don't wish injuries on any team but, I'd like to see the Cards minus Pujols, Mulder and Suppan (the Cub equivalent of Lee, Prior and Wood) with their weak bullpen, you're looking at 60-70 win team easy.
  2. Never. They WILL pitch again; the only question is when. I hope its as Cubs...
  3. At what point do we give up and accept the fact that Prior and Wood are never going to pitch as Cubs?
  4. Prior and Wood the two most worthful and worthless pitchers in all of Baseball.
  5. Don't know if you remember the Phillies of the early 80's but, he's the Cubs version of Jeff Stone.
  6. Is money so important that he's willing to sacrifice yet another season without taking a chance on something different?
  7. Why can't Hill, Guzman, Ryu or, dare I say it, Pie help the Cubs stay afloat until Wood, Prior and Lee return? We all know what's going to happen-Gutless Hendry will let Dusty flounder around with Williams, Rusch and Jones burying the Cubs in the process then, when the rosters expand we'll get a look at Hill, Guzman and Ryu. They'll probably go a combined 6-0 or something similar leaving us all wondering what if Hendry developed some nerve and made these move in late April.
  8. Because he's still rusty and catching up to where he was pre-injuries. He's always rusty, or recovering from injury. Let's clean house of all the D/L riders and put together a baseball team that takes the field. I might have to agree with that. Not including Lee, of course  One unlucky collision should be alright. But this D/L madness is become ridiculous. This isn't the NFL. Come to think of it----I don't think the Bears have this many injuries. Something is fundamentally wrong with that. Just.......wrong. I was thinking along those lines the other day, how many games did Walter Payton miss in his Bears career? He played a sport that is arguably tougher on the body than Baseball yet, here are Prior and Wood, who, quite probably never will play a full season for the remainder of their careers.
  9. A series against the Marlins should prevent that from happening. I doubt it. A series with the Marlins might prove to be more of a catalyst for said bender Maddux will step up tomorrow. He is the right man for this spot. I really wish he was ptiching last night. Jerome looked overmatched last night. True enough, what angers me most is that save for Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen he looked overmatched against what is largely a collection of journey men junk.
  10. You could be correct. Last night it looked like everybody was feeling sorry for themself, including Len and Bob. However, good teams overcome injuries. This is why many of us wanted another big bat either in the outfield or on the bench. Instead we got Jaque and bench full of utility players. Nevertheless, They need to buck up and play good smart baseball. If the cubs fall apart I will blame Dusty and not injuries. When these things happen, and they do to all teams, it is the manager's job to get the team going. Double swithcing Walker in the 6th for Neifi isn't going to get it done. Agree, CubsinNY. Somebody needs to take a tough loving apprach to these guys, and forced them to forget about Lee for the next 2 months, and play some dang baseball. The Cards COMPENSATED for losing Scott Rolen last year, and they went to the NLCS. So it CAN be done. This team needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves. Add Carpenter and Mulder to that list last year and they don't get anywhere near the NLCS, maybe even the playoffs.
  11. Last year Rolen was ran over by Choi and was done for the year. The curse thing gets old. Sure it gets old but, how many starts did Carpenter and Mulder miss last season?
  12. Nor do others team start the year with two of their best picthers on the DL year, after year, after year.
  13. so, they're never going to win a title? At this point it doesn't appear so, its uncanny how whenever there's the slightest glimmer of hope, something blows-up.
  14. Well, the Cardinal bullpen is weak, three or more runs off it is not impossible...
  15. If Ramirez could hit at all, this wouldn't be such a tense moment...
  16. I'm gonna kill him and tear apart that goddamned red bat he has. I had that stupid bat. What difference does it make? Bat or no bat, Jones' at bat will have same result an Ofer.
  17. Kinda like the one last year when we got Wood, Williamson, and Nomar back right around 8/1? Let's hope it works out better than last season' "trade" did...
  18. I know how you feel, the ever hopeful Cub Fan in me thinks Wood and Prior will make it back and be effective. But, the realist in me thinks it never happen, good things like that only happen to Cardinals, etc. not the Cubs.
  19. Beyond the Astros, who might add Clemens in May, is there any other team in Baseball that's going to potentially, add the likes of a Wood and Prior to their rotation? Its almost like a block-buster mid-season trade but, in May rather than July. I know its a Pipe Dream to think that Prior and Wood will join the rotation and actually sick around for more than one cycle but, the potential or hope is there...
  20. Is it safe to assume that Rusch is pitching like a man hearing foot steps (Guzman, Hill, Ryu)?
  21. Think I'll enjoy a little Knob Creek in salute to the Cub win!!!!
  22. I know it hit a wire but, he makes every other freaking play!!!
  23. What's this! Joe Brooks Robinson Randa didn't make the play?
  24. I'm tired of mediocre players like Randa pulling plays out their ass vs. the Cubs.
