  1. The rest of the NL has figured out if given a chance, Santos will pitch him self into trouble, somebody please send the Memo to the Cubs.
  2. I didn't catch Game 4 from the start but, there was quite a bit of dicussion regarding Shaq, after Game 3's poor performance, coming out like gangbusters. Did he? Can we expect plenty of him knocking whomever is guarding him out of the way and dunking in Game 5?
  3. Typical Angelo draft - the "under the radar" projects, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
  4. Team ERA of 5.01 (with three shutouts), BAA of .282, given up 38 HR, allowing 13.8 base runners per 9 innings tells you all you need to know about where the Reds are going to end up.
  5. If the Bulls had a legitimate inside (not Tim Thomas but, someone who the Heat would take seriously) threat they'd be leading the series maybe, even up 3-0.
  6. I agree...
  7. Beyond Pujols and having out their mind offensive seasons the Cardinals bullpen has been the key to success. Their bullpen, as presented constructed, is far weaker than 2004 and 2005 - its going to cost them plenty of games. When you're trotting the likes of Looper, Rincon and Flores out there, you're going to have problems, even if you're the Cardinals.
  8. Sure was...
  9. How do the Reds with perhaps, the worst pitching staff in the NL, have two shutouts already?
  10. Wouldn't a Walker GG be funnier than heck? (Not at the expense of Lee out, though.) Yeah, because as I recall, Walker is absolutely brutal on defense. :eyeroll: If Pujols wins the Triple Crown, he'll win the GG, even if he leads the NL in errors, the voters will site his "incredible range".
  11. LOL, me too. Pujols wins the game in the bottom of the 9th. That guy is gonna win the Triple Crown this year. He's just unreal. Last night on BT Gammons, et al, were discussing teams pitching around Pujols, it starting and, until Edmonds or Rolen start swinging consistently, were going to see more and more pitching around Pujols. At the moment the Cards are basically a one man team, Pujols with what, 35% or so, of their RBI's? If he goes down, they're done...
  12. The Bulls hung in there again, I believe they'll get at least one, maybe tow games in this Series. Given what Hinrich and Gordon have done to Heat, what, if the Heat make that far, kind of numbers are Billups and Hamilton going to put up? Does anyone believe the Heat have even a remote chance against the Pistons?
  13. I agree, if anything, the Umpires are inconsistent, their strike zone appears to change from inning to inning. As for LaRussa I think you've got him pegged.
  14. I always thought it was his motion and ability to hide the ball until the last moment that got people out. Not so much his stuff, if he had a more traditional pitching motion, I don't believe he would be nearly as effective.
  15. Exaggeration? What of Womack in '04 or Nunez last season?
  16. fixed. he is, afterall, 37 yrs old LOL, he's one of the "oldest" looking 25 year olds I've ever seen. I'm guessing that when he was 1 he looked like 13 year old.
  17. That doesn't make a lot of sense though, since Guzman has been just as unreliable, if not more. It's out of necessity, and nothing more. You're correct however, at some point, I'm hoping Hendry and Baker quit counting on anything from Prior or Wood.
  18. If Tony was so worried about the integrity of the game he wouldn't have let Kline and Tavares put pinetar on the bill of their caps. Talk about ridiulous. Nor would he have flat out lied about McGwire and performance echancing drugs... Dusty...Bonds...BALCO... Sosa's corked bat... Tavarez's hat... I agree with the post above (soapy). This is really isn't a big deal. Neither side is "innocent" and this is the kind of crap that takes place on the field. Each team trying to get the edge. They both want to win. I wasn't attempting to implicate Baker was telling the truth when he denied knowledge of Bonds and BALCO. Of course, he was lying thru his teeth. If Baker approached Bonds could you imagine such a converstation? Baker: Huh, Mr. Bonds, there some bad stuff in those BALCO products. Bad stuff Dude... Bonds: Go @#%** yourself! Baker: Huh OK, I'm sorry Mr. Bonds, please forgive me.
  19. Could it be Hendry' starting to realize that counting on anything from Wood or Prior is pointless and looking to Guzman to see if he's ready to pitch at MLB level? If so, I applaud it. For the remainder of this season and the seasons beyond, I believe the best strategy is to build a staff under the assumption that Prior and Wood are gone. Who knows, a miracle might occur in next few seasons and Prior or Wood (provided he's still a Cub) could break camp ready to go...
  20. If Tony was so worried about the integrity of the game he wouldn't have let Kline and Tavares put pinetar on the bill of their caps. Talk about ridiulous. Nor would he have flat out lied about McGwire and performance echancing drugs...
  21. LaRussa and the Cards asking to look at the ball, what a classless move, a complete joke. Hey Tony and Albert its called PITCHING...
  22. Same here, the point is he'll swing and miss at anything so why throw strikes?
  23. I believe Williams would be the most logical choice...
  24. Finally, instead of going with the status quo Hendry' and Baker willing to take a chance and try someone else...
  25. Picked this up from the today's Game Thread - Guzman is up with the team, is Hendry finally developing some nerve and is going to take a chance on another youngster?
