Just gotta tip your hat to the Astros...it was too hot out there today...high sky...too many people at the game. I'm not being too creative with my excuses, I'm certain many of you could do better, including the Excuse Master, Dusty. -
I saw Marmol on a couple occasions at Lansing (when it was a Cub affiliate) don't remember him throwing this hard of course, that was a two or years ago, he's obviously gotten a little stronger. When I saw him, he was in the 90-92 range nevertheless, it’s refreshing to see a Cub prospect beyond Marshall, not implode ala Hill, Guzman and Ryu.

Did anyone really think Pierre was going to be this pathetic? I, too did not like the trade but, I expected vast improvement over Patterson in the lead-off spot. -
The second step in any list is so important, it needs to be thought of twice. :wink: Fixed, having a degree in Mathematics, doesn't necessairly mean I can count!

Secure in these facts: 1. Rusch will get another start, and another, and another, etc. 2. Soft-tossing, junk-balling, 6+ ERA, 2+ WHIP LHPs will pitch shutout after shutout 3. Neifi will be lineup way too often 4. Pierre will never hit the ball (on the fly or line drive) out of infield more once every 10 games nor will he ever hit the cutoff man on the fly 5. The same moronic approach at the plate will persist I've taken to watching the Tigers, they play good fundamental Baseball (pitchers actually cover 1B on GB to the right side), they're fun to watch. And, best of all, should they win the AL Central, they will have beaten the White Sox in the process. I'll be attending the second game of the upcoming Astros series - possibly a Clemens start.

But, Pierre is such a hard worker, that's gotta count for something.

Quite probably to the DL again perhaps, for the last time as a Cub, as some have echoed, I believe Kerry Wood is done. Not just as a Cub but, with Baseball. -
I know there's some takers among you guys... Kiley's way off there. You wouldn't need any athletic background whatsoever. I believe the star pitcher (blond, from U of AZ, I believe) of last year's US Olympic Womens Softball team could shutout the Cubs.

What Dusty-ism will we read of after the game for Eyre' lack of covering 1B? "My teams are not bad. My teams have good fundamentals. Just look at my team in San Fransisco. Gotta tip your cap dude" Not bad, I was thinking of something along the lines of "...there were a lot white shirts in amongst the fans along 1B, he lost site of the ball..." if Jones can get picked off 2B because of the lite air in AZ, Eyre can lose a GB in the crowd.

The Cubs, the only team in Baseball that allows only 2ER in 3 games yet, manages to drop 2 of them. I'm predicting it now, the Cubs will achieve the impossible, they'll become the first team in Baseball history to lose a game in which they pitched a shutout.

And it's been that way for years. Stupid approaches by stupid players led by a stupid manager. Count me in as well, their refusal to adjust their collective approach based on a given pitcher' pattern, etc. is beyond stupid. I'd like them to go with some pitches...outside to right field. The outs are bad, but when its 2-0 and you ground out weakly...that's just bad decisions Saw the same thing last night, Rodriguez threw maybe ten pitches inside, think anyone started looking to go the opposite field?

Did anyone catch a glimpse of the Cardinal lineup last night? It looked positively Dusty inspired!!! I believe even Rich Hill may have managed to pitch a scoreless inning vs. that lineup. I'm not taking joy in Pujols' injury but, it sure is refreshing to see the Cards experiencing some Cub like luck.

Will this team ever realize a pitching pattern and take advantage of it? It was the same approach to every hitter for Rodriguez, outside, outside, outside, what exactly does this Coaching staff do during the game? Play Hearts? There was a shot of Clines looking out of the dugout however; I don't believe he was watching the Game. -
As of right now, he has 43% of the team HRs and has driven in 22% of their runs. By my count, he is responsible for driving in or scoring about 32% of their total runs, and I think that's what Len mentioned. You're correct, my mistake, the point is, nearly a third of their offense is tied up in Pujols, it's massive hole in the Cardinal lineup.
