  1. Carlos Lee, one of two people I'd like to see brushed off the plate, the other is Adam Dunn.
  2. I still don't understand the utility of having him assigned to Iowa when there's something wrong. Why not admit there's something wrong and take the steps to repair it and try for 2008?
  3. I don't, Eyre made a bad pitch, I'd take a match up with garbage like Counsell anyday of the week.
  4. Nothing's more frustrating than seeing the very definition of medicore crap, Counsell, go 3-5 while getting the biggest hit of the game.
  5. You know you're having a bad day when medicore players like Counsel and Miller are hitting you hard. Seems like Capuano approach is away, away, inside for show, away, away - not too hard to figure out.
  6. After the opening day flop they have played quite well. I may be drinking too much Cub koolaid today but, I see the makings of a pretty good team, one capable of running away with the NL Central.
  7. Forgive me for being picking but, shouldn't a game thread have a score once in a while? I know the handed one to the Reds today, was the final 4-2?
  8. Reds 3, Cubs 2 in the bottom of the eighth. Soriano will lead off the ninth. Thank you.
  9. Reds 4,432 Cubs 0 At least that is what you could assume by simpy reading this. I was think more along the lines of Reds: 4 * 10(to the 10th) Cubs: -infinity Where's Fred?
  10. Power? CBS Game Center is showning Ramirez with season stat of 25 HR! No, it's not. It was towards the right above the the count, etc. of course, I may have mis-read.
  11. Power? CBS Game Center is showning Ramirez with season stat of 25 HR! Whoops, make that 15 HR...
  12. It'll be interesting to see what actions Lou will or won't take if Izturis makes a habit of swinging at the first pitch (and hitting a weak gb) after the no. 7 hitter has drawn a walk. Will he make lame excuses for him ala Dusty? Or, will he bench Izturis?
  13. On one hand I didn't mind seeing UF win, OSU's luck finally ran out, I'm not denying their talent but, if not for a few lucky breaks and a non-call OSU' doesn't get to the FF. On other hand, I would have liked to see OSU win, with Oden being name the MOP thereby, giving him no cause whatsoever to stick around.
  14. I've said it before, I'll say it again - I'm tried of the Cubs letting Dunn settle in, I'm not advocating head hunting but, I'd like to see a brush back or two.
  15. Congratulations! A dram of Highland Park 12 yr old in her honor!
  16. I believe the Bears should hold their stance on Briggs, Morrissey' got it right: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070327morrissey,1,7684164.column?coll=chi-news-hed
  17. Ok, who had late March in the office pool? Thought I had a good chance with, after some stellar work by Wood in April, early May.
  18. Is the question/title of this thread a rhetorical question?
  19. Not only is this a decent lineup, Murton in the two-hole is a thing of beauty. Obviously, Lou missed the day Managers learned only weak hitting, low OBP MI are to bat second.
  20. Is unreasonable to expect an increase in velocity and movement from Prior today? Or is it still too early? Nothing against Prior or Wood but, I find it quite refreshing that the success or failure of the Cubs no longer hinges on performance of Prior and Wood.
  21. Thanks for posting it. I really enjoyed reading it and I like the way Lou approaches the pre-season games. Just the very fact that Lou will quit probably never refer someone as "Dude" is all the more reason to look forward to 2007.
  22. Thanks for putting the article here, I mistakenly put the reference in today' Game Thread meant to put in yesterday'.
  23. Just another example of the ESPN MO - go out of their way to take shots at the Cubs.
  24. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070301cubs,1,3625276.story?coll=chi-sportstop-hed I like it, Lou making no excuses, no more crap such as Jacque Jones getting doubled off on a fly ball because of the light air in Arizona.
