  1. Power? CBS Game Center is showning Ramirez with season stat of 25 HR! No, it's not. It was towards the right above the the count, etc. of course, I may have mis-read.
  2. Power? CBS Game Center is showning Ramirez with season stat of 25 HR! Whoops, make that 15 HR...
  3. It'll be interesting to see what actions Lou will or won't take if Izturis makes a habit of swinging at the first pitch (and hitting a weak gb) after the no. 7 hitter has drawn a walk. Will he make lame excuses for him ala Dusty? Or, will he bench Izturis?
  4. On one hand I didn't mind seeing UF win, OSU's luck finally ran out, I'm not denying their talent but, if not for a few lucky breaks and a non-call OSU' doesn't get to the FF. On other hand, I would have liked to see OSU win, with Oden being name the MOP thereby, giving him no cause whatsoever to stick around.
  5. I've said it before, I'll say it again - I'm tried of the Cubs letting Dunn settle in, I'm not advocating head hunting but, I'd like to see a brush back or two.
  6. Congratulations! A dram of Highland Park 12 yr old in her honor!
  7. I believe the Bears should hold their stance on Briggs, Morrissey' got it right: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070327morrissey,1,7684164.column?coll=chi-news-hed
  8. Ok, who had late March in the office pool? Thought I had a good chance with, after some stellar work by Wood in April, early May.
  9. Is the question/title of this thread a rhetorical question?
  10. Not only is this a decent lineup, Murton in the two-hole is a thing of beauty. Obviously, Lou missed the day Managers learned only weak hitting, low OBP MI are to bat second.
  11. Is unreasonable to expect an increase in velocity and movement from Prior today? Or is it still too early? Nothing against Prior or Wood but, I find it quite refreshing that the success or failure of the Cubs no longer hinges on performance of Prior and Wood.
  12. Thanks for posting it. I really enjoyed reading it and I like the way Lou approaches the pre-season games. Just the very fact that Lou will quit probably never refer someone as "Dude" is all the more reason to look forward to 2007.
  13. Thanks for putting the article here, I mistakenly put the reference in today' Game Thread meant to put in yesterday'.
  14. Just another example of the ESPN MO - go out of their way to take shots at the Cubs.
  15. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070301cubs,1,3625276.story?coll=chi-sportstop-hed I like it, Lou making no excuses, no more crap such as Jacque Jones getting doubled off on a fly ball because of the light air in Arizona.
  16. Seconded. SI and ESPN have always gone out of their collective way to take shots at the Cubs. After the Cubs win the WS, I wish there was a way they could keep SI and ESPN from covering them, basically telling SI and ESPN to go ef themselves.
  17. http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20070219/capt.flrb21102192103.cardinals_spring_baseball_flrb211.jpg I knew I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque.
  18. Its petty I know but, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Duke and Scheyer go down. Despite their early lead everyone knew it was a matter of time before UNC caught them and took control. Even Dickie V admitted as much by stating they're outmanned by UNC, Duke will get an artificially NCAA high seed and be history by round 2. Wouldn't be something if the Illini managed to squeeze in and be the team that Duke down?
  19. I love what Zook and Illini have done this recruiting season, no longer will the ND's, U of M's and OSU's of the world come to Illinois and pick up its best players like they're shopping. They know it hence, all the accusations and hostility, now if only Bruce Weber would follow suit.
  20. I believe the blitz packages should have been the call from the start, at one point Phil Simms questioned why the Bears didn't go with the blitz more often. Why react to Manning? Its the Super Bowl, be aggressive, make Manning react to your actions!!
  21. Anyone here remember much of Grossman as a Gator? Did he have this fumbling of the snap problem then? The foolish throws and bad decisions aside, this had to be his most maddening flaw, I could see it happening once or twice season but, five, six times?
  22. I'd like to see Rex get another chance, I believe he'll improve, one cannot ignore some of the good things he did this season. Sure, he needs to work on a plethora of flaws but, there's talent, perhaps, more than any other Bears QB I've seen. As for Ron Rivera, I hope he moves on to Dallas and takes Ron Turner with him (I know the Cowboys recently hired an OC doesn't mean Rivera can't take Turner with him). Rivera' conservative game plan really hurt the Bears , its the Super Bowl, why hold back anything?
  23. The one thing that I can take comfort in is this....the Bears are MORE LIKELY to make to Super Bowl 42, then the Colts. If they don't improve that defense, they won't beat Pats/Chiefs/Ravens again. The Colts are as good as they ever going to be, on the other hand, I don't believe we've seen the best of the Bears, they will improve next season. They'll have a much tougher schedule, as a result, they may not win 13 games but, it will be a better team.
  24. They should put the franchise tag on Briggs, but I dont see that happening. I believe Ed Reed is going to be a FA at safety. The Bears need a safety, IMO. They're going to have to draft a line backer, a HB, possibly even a tight end, and a OL in the draft. Adding Ed Reed would make the defense filthy. Plus a healthy Tommie Harris, as upset and disappointed as I am right now, I don't believe the was this was the lone shot for the Bears. Granted Grossman was terrible but, if given another chance he will improve and so will the Bears.
