  1. Its not the Cubs so, there a good chance he'll miss just 10-20 days now, if he was a Cub...
  2. What a crappy pitch to K on, hanging slider.
  3. Were yopu watching Z? That's what an ace pitcher does for your team.
  4. And yet we still aren't going to score many runs.... Which is pathetic, Redman is literally a BP pitcher, even at full speed.
  5. During Pie' at bat Brenly said something about the pitching he'll be facing be better at the Major Legue level. Not tonight Bob, I venture Pie faced lefties far superior to Redman in Minor Leagues.
  6. I'm somewhat relieved they're playing Miami over NJ, freak game by Mikki Moore aside; the Nets present bigger match-up problems than the Heat. The Bulls can't stop Carter or Jefferson nor keep Kidd from doing what he wants. This is not to say they'll beat the Heat but, I'm fairly certain the Nets would have won a first series vs. the Bulls. By the way, I'm certain the Bulls would have lost but, I thought the Nets got away with numerous hacks last night. Kidd' steal of the ball from TT under the hoop was far from clean as Walton&Co. gushed, the only thing clean was Kidd cleanly hitting TT on the arms.
  7. From today' Sullivan piece: Someone remind again why Izturis is wasting a roster spot?
  8. The first sentence might be true (hard to say what the Yankees think - I'd be shocked if they thought anyone was better than Jeter). But if Z could piece together a good start or two, they would certainly listen. ARod might bolt after the year anyway, so they might take Z if they can get an extension in place for him. It'll take another pitching prospect or two, I would think, but they'll certainly listen. Of course, Z would go to NY and suddenly find control and become one of the best pitchers in baseball - leading them to the WS for 3 or 4 years. Just b/c we're the Cubs and that's how things work. ...and ARod will struggle, hitting .200 or so, ultimately, ending his season on the DL after a rupturing his Achilles tendon while running out a routine GB or some such nonsense.
  9. I'd like to see him moved for another big bat, ARod would be nice and other options may open up. In hindsight I'm glad Hendry hasn't resigned him, let someone else be Zambrano' mark and sign him as a #1.
  10. Sorry, but I'm getting a little thrown off by these two stats....whats the difference here? I believe the first statistic refers to Cubs having won the game previous to the loss or, after opening day. Such as Monday - Win, Tuesday - Loss...
  11. I'm on board, adding an ARod, moving him back to SS and making Izturis a bat boy would get the Cubs closer to playoffs than having Z ever will.
  12. I'd reallly like to believe Zambrano' going to give the Cubs 8+ tonight but, realistically his pitch count will probably be into to the 80's by 4th. Zambrano cannot throw strikes. Hopefully, the Cubs produce some runs tonight, a lot of them.
  13. I believe many of us knew it was over as soon as Ohlman got up in the bullpen. With the trade of Neifi Perez, Ronny Cedeno is clearly the worst hitter in the Cubs orgainzation, its not close.
  14. Boy, he's quick, stole 2nd faster than I can type!!
  15. How long does it take to heal? Hamstring injuries seem to hang on or nag for a long time, if not the remainder of the season, I remember a hamstring injury basically ending Rick Sutcliffe' season in 1985.
  16. Not sure about Rocky. Hopefully Hill's 90MPH fastball will keep his arm under less stress than a 98MPH fireballer. After Woody and Prior, I'm into pitchers who can take the ball every time out over guys who shred their arms trying to break the land-speed record on their fastballs. If I'm not mistaken, Zito' fastball isn't much faster than 90 MPH, if it is at all, yet, he's been able to have some major league success.
  17. I believe its fairly simple, if Hill keeps throwing strikes and Zambrano doesn't, Hill will surpass Zambrano as the Cubs #1 starter.
  18. Wish there wasn't any runners on for this would be the perfect opprotunity to brush back/plunk Dunn.
  19. What, he swung? Would have liked to see that...
  20. Freel didn't dive, he just couldn't get to it. Thanks
  21. I don't have access to video, was that ball catchable or did roll to the wall as a result of Freel un-necessairly diving?
  22. Its soo painfully obvious Sulley, look crap like Castro is taking picthes, its the Reds approach vs the Cubs, take, take, take, take...
  23. Griffey walks, throw it down the middle Hill, they're not going to swing!!!!
  24. Juan Castro, he of the lifetime .272 OBP, walks, the Reds MO vs. the Cubs take, take, take, think the Cubs and Rothschild are smart enough to take advantage of this?
