  1. I'm taking comfort in the fact that the not so good Brewer pitching is going to be facing a really good lineup. No more three (Pence, Lee and Berkman) hitters and a bunch of crap, it'll probably come down to the bullpens.
  2. yea, cuz we hit soo well against JOEL FREAKIN PENEIRO for 4+ innings.... Had that piece of crap on the ropes but, in typical Cubs fashion, they went into their no score mode for the remainder of the game. By the way is Sean Marshall ever going to figure he's got a better chance pitching ahead in the count? His long layoff notwithstanding, he better work on throwing strikes in the offseason or he won't be long for this league.
  3. Pretty pathetic what LaRussa has had to resort to, can't say I'm not throughly enjoying it.
  4. Goodbye and good riddance Craig Biggio!!!!!!
  5. And yet, they've had the thrill of two WS, it's unbelievably unfair.
  6. The Cards lineup sans Pujols might be one of the worst since the days of Baylor...
  7. Pretty entertaining Ron and Pat's call, listened to the Houston call as well. They were lamenting the Astros lack of clutch hitting, when it comes to the Cubs they must be watching a different game - clutch hitting is all they've done vs the Cubs in Houston.
  8. Didn't numb nuts pull one out of his ass vs Cubs?! Of course, against the Brewers he suddenly can't catch the ball!!!!
  9. At this point, I would gladly trade schedules with the Brewers. I can't imagine the Cubs beating any of those three teams more than once in a series. I'll be thoroughly shocked if the Cubs are more than about 1 game over .500 for the remaining stretch. I too. I fear a repeat of the close of 2004, the Cubs will have chance after chance to seize the NL Central (WC in 2004) but, we fail to do so. I believe we are going to witness several 1 run extra inning loses, games in which the the Cubs grossly out hit and, save for a pitch or two, out pitch the opposition. We'll see things like the Cubs leaving 20+ plus men on base, Lee and Ramirez GIDP's with the bases loaded, failing to score a run with a runner on third and no outs, etc. The real kicker is that these failings won't occur because the opposition made the perfect pitch, no, they'll occur because Lee and Ramirez just missed hanging sliders or high BP fastballs. The writing is on the wall. Last nights game exhibit A.
  10. Its not like we didn't know this crap wouldn't happen, 10 BB's? 15 LOB? I could accept losing to the Astros if they beat the Cubs but, they didn't, as has been the story far too often this season, the Cubs beat themselves.
  11. I'm at the point where I'm wondering what kind of voodoo LaRussa will have to pull to keep them in it. I'm not sure about the Cubs, but I definitely don't see the Brewers playing 4 games worse than the Cards from here on out. And if it's a tie, the game goes to Miller Park where I'm pretty sure the Crew would pound the Cards into the sand. I'm hoping the Cubs just outpace both of 'em of course. I don't know what kind of Black Magic is necessary to keep them in it, that's a terrible team I saw play the Cubs. A team with a bunch of poor to barely average relief and starting pitchers and exactly one hitter.
  12. Len and Bob were talking about busting him inside, does he have a hole in his swing? Was it possible to see this from stands?
  13. From here on out I believe the Cubs biggest obstacle is themselves, if they play well, there's no reason 2 of 3 in Houston, and 3 of 4 in St. Louis shouldn't happen. Anyone else think the Cards are done?

  15. Not having seen the yesterday' game, I was wondering if Pie would have caught that line drive in the second inning? Now that Jones' hot streak is over how about Pie in CF today on out? Pie is just as crappy as Jones with the bat. He will strikeout just as much, will choke with runners on base just as much however, he'll do a few things Jones is incapable of doing such as: 1. Playing a superior CF 2. Occasionally beating out gb's to deep SS 3. If does put the ball in play with a runner on 1b, he's next to impossible to double up
  16. No Bay or Nady? The Cubs should win this game but, we all know the Cubs haven't exactly been adapt at winning games they should win.
  17. Of course he does, only team he's effective against is the Cubs.
  18. The way LaRouche was pitched to didn't make any sense, he's hole in his swing inside and they're pitching him away?
  19. Umpire screwed Marmol on the pitched called ball two...
  20. Can't blame Zambrano too much for being upset - those two pitches were strikes for Snell.
  21. What of Mr. Lefty Hitter Specialist Monroe? I saw an 0 fer 3 in the box score, is this clown ever going to drive in a run?
  22. Once again the Cubs needing a big game from the supposed "Ace" of course, he'll fail deliver - pitches four shutout innings, in the fifth after retiring the first two hitters, walks 5 as the Pirates go on to put up 6 runs and win 7-0.
  23. that's different. soto's a cub. And a good position prospect. That means he must be up to his eyeballs in amphetamines, steroids, HGH, black tar heroin, crack, crank, meth, weed, coke, LSD, PCP, Oxycontin, NyQuil, DayQuil, Allegra, Viagra, Penicillin, Tylenol, Advil, and Peptobismol... ...ALL WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION! Test him!!!! Does it matter? He's a Cub positional prospect which means all the drugs in the world won't stop him from amounting to nothing nor doing anything of note besides sucking.
  24. Illegal substances aside, for me, the most frustrating aspect of Ankiel' success is the lack of it on or for the Cubs. He's already hit more HR's than the "Big Time Prospect" Pie is probably going to hit for his career. Seriously, does every positional prospect for the Cubs have to be terrible?
  25. I asked this in the game thread - Not having seen the game, is it reasonable to think Lee should have made a play on both of the gb singles starting the 9th yesterday?
