  1. I really like the idea of Williams/Maye and Nabers/Odunze/Coleman with the first rounders.
  2. Beyond all the other crap, the Bears possession while tied at 17, first play, Getsy calls a crack-block to Herbert that puts them behind the chains. That's where the game was lost, I don't know if it's a "trust" issue with Fields, or Getsy' trying to outsmart the defense or Getsy' just plain stupid. Why not keep the ball with Fields, get him on the move, looking to make a play with his arm or legs? Fields has his flaws however, it's painfully obvious Getsy is not the OC that can put him in the best position to succeed. If, unfortunately, the Bears do not end with the first or second pick and Fields is retained, Poles has got to find an OC that can play call to his strengths.
  3. I don't give a horsefeathers how much Eberflus has kept them together or earned his players respect. Fact is he's a terrible at coaching, this game alone is evidence, why weren't they coming at Flacco with bliztes on every down? Flacco can't move, he's a statue out there, I'd take my chances getting him before he throws the ball.
  4. Just don't understand what's going on, opposing defenders are head hunting Fields, looking to hurt him. All this going on right in front of those horsefeathers zebra's faces and yet, they just keep those flags in their pockets.
  5. Bears can jettison Mooney along with Fields, both of them need to be gone.
  6. I'd do that in a heartbeat, not certain PCA is going to hit at the major league level and Wesneski type arms are a dime a dozen. In fact I wouldn't be hesitant to trade any or all of PCA, Merivs, Canario, Alacantara for proven players, none of them is going to amount to more than a replacement level bat.
  7. I'm certain the Cubs interest was of the perfunctory going through motions sort, enough to their name mentioned with Ohtani.
  8. What about the emphasis Poles puts on size? He's listed at 6'0 it's probably closer to 5'11 - 5'10.5, Maye' listed at 6'4 it's probably closer to 6'3 - 6'2.5, Maye has more of the prototypical size for a QB.
  9. It's the most puzzling piece, what GM is going to showcase a manager as his big off season move? Does Hoyer really think people are going to pay ridiculous amounts of money to watch a manager?
  10. There's a better than average chance Mervis is a AAAA player.
  11. I believe so, he was a utility infielder,
  12. Defense is way cheaper than offense, just like soft tossing sinker slider pitchers are cheaper than those with velocity, it's always about spending responsibly.
  13. Bears situation is far more favorable than what Young was drafted into, it's roster with a good QB is a playoff team.
  14. I think you're very close, for Hoyer and the Cubs its all about keeping the ball down, pitch to contact, generate ground balls coupled with good defense. It's the relatively cheap easy way to mediocrity. Just don't understand it, to be so aggressive with on the managerial front, only to do nothing to improve his roster.
  15. Hey, now, they signed Counsell, didn't they? Come to Wrigley Field and watch him manage, see him sit in the dugout, chew some gum, drink some water.
  16. Imanaga is definitely the most Cubs plausible of Ohtani, Yamamoto and Imanaga. He's older, won't cost as much in terms of contract length, I'd be OK with Imanaga.
  17. Settling? I knew the THE THRIFTY NICKLE was and is the plan, Ohtani and Yamamoto were never going to happen for the Cubs, not close to the realm of reality. Soto was a far more realistic outcome however, it's no surprise Jed punted.
  18. I am wondering why the pretty much complete the lack of action on Hoyers' part. What's he waiting for? Every worthwhile FA and trade target to be signed or traded? Is the Cubs biggest off-season move going to be signing a manager?
  19. Thinking about the draft, if the Bears pick from Carolina holds and they move on from Fields. I don't believe Williams will have any problems with going to the Bears. Their roster is far better than a team who is normally picking number one, Poles will probably further improve upon it. So, there's a good chance they'll have a winning record and be a playoff team. For the record, I believe Poles is taking Maye, he has the pro to-typical QB size which I think is a point of emphasis for Poles.
  20. They've got a good team, still not in the group with SF, Dallas or Philly but, probably the best of the rest.
  21. Lions whining about the no call on Fields grounding the ball, I say suck it crybabies. On top of being terrible the Bears have royally fucked over by terrible officiating - the numerous no calls on targeting/roughing of Fields - its about horsefeathers time the Bears got the benefit of terrible officiating.
  22. Poles, Getsy et. al. didn't create Fields' flaws nor can they or anyone else coach his flaws out of him. Best thing they can do is put him in a position to succeed.
  23. Never going to happen, just isn't capable, these must be his last 4.5 games as a Bear.
  24. I think its pretty easy what just transpired is exhibit A for how Fields is a hindrance to winning, take you're chances with Maye or Williams.
  25. This is why Fields needs to be jettisoned from this team, no reason whatsoever for that sack. I'm so done with this clown.
