  1. May have to wait for the NLCS and ALCS, don't think Arizona or Minnesota have much of a chance in either series.
  2. Watch some film reviews of Fields vs. Broncos, it's hard not to be a little encouraged. He looked off defenders, was decisive, read properly, what's confusing is how much was due to a terrible defense and how much was it a step forward for Justin. Let's see what he does tonight nevertheless, the aggressive, decisive version of Fields, there's no reason that cannot carry over. For what its worth St. Brown also helped out the running game, simply because of effort, he brings a lot more to the table than Claypool. Even though I said if it was choice between this coaching staff and Claypool, I'd take Claypool. Eberflus deserves some credit for jettisoning Claypool, sounds like it more than just a lack of effort in games. Which makes sense, generally you play like you practice.
  3. Okay, thinking even the Rangers pen can hold a 7 run lead over 3 innings.
  4. Rangers up 5-0 looking good, the bullpen though, but, the Rays aren't really hitting, we'll see.
  5. I previously mentioned the Bears hiring Deion Sanders while drafting Caleb Williams. I forgot about Lincoln Riley, how about a package deal of him and Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr. for the Bears? He got Williams to follow him to USC, although, to be fair, I don't believe transferring to USC was all that hard of a sell. Point is he'd probably be able to sell Williams on the Bears most especially, assuming the Bears hire him first, if he's not going to be the HC at USC in 2024.
  6. In this case maybe we want to see Eberflus finish out the year. On the whole, Poles has been a failure and really has not earned another year to pick his QB, etc. Yes, the Bears roster was in a terrible state and punting on 2022 is justifiable but, 2023 with the resources at hand, he struggled to meet cap minimum and basically ignored the DL. Going instead for some goofed up idea of building the defense from back to front. I know there's data suggesting such an approach can work, such as the Chiefs but, didn't they already have Chris Jones in place?
  7. Now down 1-0 and with the prospect of facing Gallen and Kelly, I'd say the Brewers are done.
  8. Besides beating each other neither of these teams is going any further. Why doesn't Counsel bring in that dork who mesmerized the Cubs last Friday?
  9. Corbin Carroll is a very good player and I'm certain we'd love him as a Cub but, he looks and talks, I don't know, I hate him. A porn-stached irritating horsefeathers.
  10. Most definitely it's probably on Eberflus. In general, their short yardage plays are for horsefeathers, either Eberflus and Getsy are trying to, in the words of JT, "trick'em and dick'em" or they really don't know what they're doing. After Getsy is let go, the next guy is will come in and say let's keep throwing the ball to DJ Moore and, it'll be a horsefeathers revelation.
  11. Still not getting why, at the very least, Getsy remains a Bears coach. Your embattled QB is playing well, finally, looking like a competent passer and you take the ball out of his hands on the most crucial play of the game? How could Fields not be totally enraged? I really hope, should a similar opportunity arise in the future, that Fields will horsefeathers this horsefeathers and takes matters into his own hands. Most especially if it's Getsy again calling for some BS short-yardage play.

  13. Little, the control is cause for concern, the stuff is there, very nasty. Except for one hitter he made the Braves and Brewers look helpless, with better control he's damn near un-hittable.
  14. Without question, it's all on him, Eberflus et. al. are gone by black Monday, if not sooner. There's also a very strong case to be made that Poles should follow them. Then, of course, were back to the Bears getting the next GM hire correct, which, for them, is impossible.
  15. You're probably right, in a short series anything can happen and usually does.
  16. You're probably right, in a short series anything can happen and usually does.
  17. I look upon this Broncos game as a false positive for Fields. If he has good game against the Commanders maybe it's a step forward. While I'm rooting for Fields I keep thinking about his deficiencies - they're not correctable - no matter how Stephen Jackson yells about it and what other so called "experts" say. The Bears didn't create his flaws, granted, they have not found a way to utilize his strengths. Nevertheless, for once in my lifetime I'd like to see the Bears with a real NFL QB and it appears Drake Maye or Caleb Williams might the answer.
  18. Playoffs - I know its baseball and random, weird things happen but, does anyone believe Arizona, Miami and Milwaukee have any chance at all? Arizona - two good starting pitchers, terrible bullpen, okay lineup, Miami/Milwaukee some decent starting pitching and bullpens, terrible lineups, with such poor lineups I just don't see how they can score enough to win a playoff series. It's going to be LA and ATL or, if the Phillies pull off an upset, PHI and LA in the NLCS. On the whole, the AL wild card teams are a far more competitive teams than the NL wild card teams.
  19. Taking the ball out Fields hands, this whole trust BS with Getsy, he needs to fired, yeah there's a lack of talent. But, reason number 1 is the coaching, there needs to be a change and it cannot wait until the end of the season. I'd keep Claypool before this coaching staff and, that's saying something, because, Claypool is a waste of a physical specimen.
  20. Wait a minute, isn't Fields throwing the ball to right spot what's known in the parlance of the NFL as a play? Does Kmet know such things?
  21. So, what your saying is that was an anticipation throw by Fields? I thought that wasn't possible.
  22. Finally, the Bears grew some and did what they should have done after week 1, don't expect St. Brown to make any impact. However, at least, he'll give maximum effort. Watched some encouraging tape on Dexter, he's coming along, he drawing two blockers on nearly every snap he plays. KC had two blockers on him yet, he was able to make some plays. The unfortunate part is it's coming slowly, therefore, everyone is going to write him off as another Poles failure. By the end of season and into 2024 there's a chance he's going to make an impact. I wonder, in comparison is Carter, being doubled as frequently? Many of the highlights looks as if he's one on one, makes sense given the rest of the Eagles D-line.
  23. The frustrating part of this is if the Cubs could have just managed .500 ball they'd be one of the wild cards. Them instead of a not-so-good team that greatly benefited from luck. They'll never be able to sustain that type of play in the playoffs.
  24. They might be a tougher opponent than the Cubs would have been, maybe. Their lineup is terrible, no power, low OBP, other than Arraez there's nothing else to fear.
