The Cubs will not have Pierre, Wilkerson, Dunn, Nomar (:(), Lugo, Burnett, or Bradley on the club come opening day. Or, if one or more of them is on the team, Hendry will vastly overpay. Just a gut feeling.
And then slaps the figure 4 on him... And the Hogan does a leg drop......b/c the leg drop is devastating. I could believe a legdrop is more devastating than the freakin PEOPLE'S ELBOW!! Ok, so it's a jazzed up elbowdrop. Whoopie doo. These guys get hit in the head with chairs and come back from it but a guy bouncing off the ropes, then coming to a complete stop, then falling down and putting his elbow in your chest is supposed to be a devastating move? And people LOVED it!! I don't care what anyone says, The Rock sucks and I hate him. I was always more of an Austin guy (hense the "316" in my username). And yes, I know that wrestling is scripted. It's not "fake", but it's scripted.
Congrats, guys. You beat us fair and square. You capitalized on the opportunities you had. Although I'll still be rooting for the Bears to be gutless, choking dogs in the playoffs.
Brett Favre is to the Bears what Mike Schmidt was to the Cubs. He'll always kill you. As much as I'd love to have the #1 pick and see Reggie Bush in green and gold next year, I want to take the wind out of the Bears sails as well. I always am reminded of the fact that when you guys went 13-3 a few years ago, two of those losses were against the Packers.
Let's hope so. If we land neither Castillo or Pierre, I have a really sick feeling that Hendry is going to overreact and throw a buttload of money at a B-level free agent, and that contract will become an albatross after a few years. Or he'll go out and get a quailty leadoff guy, but give up entirely too much.
All division games are equally important. The "rivalry" aspect of the Bears-Packers just serves as motivating tool. I find it amusing that like Cubs vs. Sox, this rivalry is not perceived equally from both sides. Bears fans HATE the Packers, Packers fans HATE........the Vikings. I was just about to make that point. Bear fans, no hard feelings when Brett picks apart your defense once again. He may not be what he once was, but he's still good enough to lay a beatdown on the Bears. Packers 31, Bears 17
See, that's this organization's problem. We shouldn't be blaming Corey; we should be blaming the team that keeps putting 4 men on base and can't score them. See? Clogging the bases is BAD!
If there are several teams interested in the player you are desperate to get rid of, how do they decide which one gets him for less than market value? Now if you make statements that have the effect of lowering the market value that's a different issue. Well, when ALL of them are offering less than market value, then you're pretty much stuck no matter who you go with, aren't you?
Yeah, he hits well at Wrigley.. AGAINST the Cubs. I have a gut feeling this isnt a good idea. I'd rather keep Patterson. He isnt 40, and I dont want another one of our players we see digress in another uniform because we werent patient. I've never been a fan of the whole "He hits well in our park, so lets sign him" theory. He may hit well in your park, but it's always against your pitching staff.
The reason that the trades were so different was that the Cubs showed absolute desperation to get rid of Sammy. Nobody is going to give you market value for a player when you make it known just how badly you need to get rid of him. Philly put some feelers out about Thome, but didn't make it known that they were desperate to get rid of him, and they got a decent return. Funny how that works.
