  1. Not only did we post the same thing, but used the same title and exactly the same post. You're scaring me. I have my scary mind-reading powers. The funny thing is I took a couple of minutes to double check and make sure there wasn't already a topic up. My waiting to be sure there was no double post caused a double post. Weird. I did the same thing. I skimmed all the Transactions forum headlines and didn't see it, so I posted.
  2. Does it really shock you? This is the Cubs, after all.

  4. For Dave Williams http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2250330
  5. I'm sure Tim will get around to it. He has a job and a wife and kids, so, unlike me, he's not on NSBB 20 hours per day. I'm doing ok without it, and while I too would like to see it return, I can live without it for the time being.
  6. If Hendry wants Abreu badly, but does not want to give up Zambrano or Prior, then he only has one or two shots: trade for Barry Zito or Livan Hernandez, and dangle them in front of Philly. I'm not sure what it would take to get Livan, but to get Zito, we are probably looking at Murton, Hill and Todd Walker. Abreu is on the downside. He'd be a phenomenal guy to have, but not for all the young talent we'd have to give up for him.
  7. Guzman at one time was our #1 prospect. He was destined to hit Chicago and be the ace of our staff. Then he got hurt. Then he got hurt again. And then again.... you get the idea. If he can stay healthy (that's even a bigger if than Wood or Nomar), he'd be a front of the rotation starter for nearly any team in the bigs. However, he's getting old for a prospect, and we have bigger chips to deal than him. He's Kerry Wood made of talcum powder.
  8. My thoughts too. We would if Hendry would pull the trigger on a trade and sent a few relievers the other way.
  9. I wouldn't mind having him. He'd automatically become my favorite Cub (UW-Whitewater grad and all). But I can tell you the overwhelming consensus of NSBB would be "NO (bleeping) WAY!" based on my past experience in this topic of discussion.
  10. Come on, Dusty, do something right for once in your worthless existence.
  11. If it's Pierre for Mitre, Welly, Williams, and Nolasco like that article is saying, Hendry should call the police because he got raped.
  12. I'd have to ask them to throw in Dontrelle for that price, too.
  13. I could live with Murton in left. I think the kid is really going to be something.
  14. I would be satisfied with those players. It wouldn't be a huge improvement, but at least it would be a step in the right direction in terms of improving the offense. I'd see if you could throw Bradley in there if you can't land Wilkerson or Huff.
  15. Everything worked just fine for me except for the search features and the "view my posts" links.
  16. Is anyone else scared that Hendry will refuse to pay the price these teams are asking and end up having to sign Preston Wilson and Juan Encarncion or end up giving Pie for Pierre because there will be no other options? Scared? I'm resigned to it happening! Hendry needs to make a move soon because things aren't looking too good right now. He might have to overpay for one of these guys just to lock one up.
  17. Can Wilkerson catch the ball? nope. He has played for several years and has yet to make a put out. in fact, he has no arms. Makes it kinda hard for him to swing the bat then. If it's true that Wilkerson has no arms, then I pass.
  18. Would deleting old threads that haven't been active since before Opening Day 2004 be effective? I very much doubt people are going to miss those much. Maybe putting in an "auto delete" feature in threads that have been inactive for, say, 18 months? I'm sure it would give you enough room, at least for now. You could have an archive for the more popular or funny threads, like the famous Nomar thread. Also just thinking out loud. Wasn't around then. Could you let me know what thread that is? It was even about a month before I joined. It started the day we traded for Nomar. Treebeard and such posted a bunch of MSN paint pictures and stuff, kind of providing illustration for the story and how he reacted when we got Nomar. Once the search features get back up I'm sure someone will link to it.

  20. Or thinking that we'll get a big impact bat.
  21. Followed by Pierre, then Dunn.
  22. Don't tell me you were expecting a good one from him.
  23. I'd hate it if Walker went to the Cards. He is (was?) one of my favorites on last year's team and I would hate to have to root against him if he was a member of the evil, godless, communist, puppy-kicking Cardinals.
  24. I'd see if you could get Nomar back here at a reasonable price. If you can, great, but if not, then give it to Cedeno. Cedeno would be a super sub anyway. He could give Nomar every 4th or 5th game off, as well as resting Aram's hammies and giving Walker a day or two off here or there. He could get about 3 starts a week. I think I'd do Williams for Wilkerson straight up, although I think Williams is going to be a solid #3 guy somewhere down the road.
