  1. Dear Jim Hendry. I hate you. Please go away and inflict your mind-boggling stupidity on some other team. You have ruined my entire summer of watching another suck-ass Cubs team. This team will probably struggle to finish .500 yet again. You have had a good hand in ruining Kerry Wood. We had the biggest window of opportunity in my lifetime of being contenders, and you made lousy move after lousy move and slammed that window shut. Sure, you brought us Lee and Ramirez, but your other moves have far counteracted those. Any man who gives Antonio frickin Alfonseca and Jose "0-for-4" Macias raises should lose his job immediately and never work in baseball again. I hate you, and if I ever meet you in person I'm going to punch you right in the face. Sincerely, Me.
  2. Have you're fun but don't forget you guys will have "JRod" and So running around the OF. :D Do you think the cubs have any chance of finishing ahead of the cards? Maybe if the Cards plane crashes and the entire team tragically perishes. That's the only way.
  3. I think they'd be wise to at least throw a semi-decent offer out there. If Philly rejects it, that forces Houston to up its' offer. Even if we don't land him and don't expect to, I think it would be wise to make Houston pay as much as it can if they land him.
  4. Nothing this team does shocks me anymore. I wonder how much people will be lauding our outfield defense when Jones is struggling to produce a .300 OBP. I've said it before, and nothing will change my mind... I'd rather have a good-hit, average defender than an average hitter with GG defense.
  5. There were a lot of moves that Hendry made that I really liked. Unfortunately, the bad moves or non moves at this point outweigh the good. And I think that's the point of the whole issue. I point you back to my "Alex Gonzalez" argument I made about a week ago in regards to keeping Hendry.
  6. Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, Mark Grudzelaniek,Eric Karros Juan Pierre, Mark Prior, Carlos Zambrano, Matt Clement, Moises Alou, Michael Barrett, Ryan Dempster,Jerome Williams, Matt Murton! Oh the pain!!! Jim you shouldn't have! How dare you!!! Neifi Perez, Jose Macias, re-signing Alfonseca and giving him a nice raise, Enrique Wilson, Rey Ordonez, all the points BBB made, especially the whole Wood thing, the big gaping hole in RF right now, and numerous other things I'm sure I've forgotten. I can play that game, too.
  7. True, but most of those pitchers have healthy shoulders, and therefore can start out doing more than Kerry will be able to do.
  8. What's NT stand for? That's the joke.
  9. 2B is not the problem on this team. Todd Walker is doing a fine job. Decent production and a low contract. You'll never go wrong with that. Ever.
  10. Goodbye, Nomar. We hardly knew ye.
  11. Jenkins always seems to have at least one extended DL stay per year.
  12. Look out for Millwalkee, they could be the 06 White Sox. I don't know if they're that good yet. But give them this year yet, maybe the year after, and they'll be legit playoff contenders.
  13. Yeah, especially considering what the leage avg numbers were at the time. He wasn't hitting in the power era of the 90s, that's for sure. If he played against the watered-down pitching and small ballparks of today, he'd have easily hit 900 home runs.
  14. I've been right a little too often this offseason. Let's hope that evens out. Well then predict we're going to get Manny or something.
  15. As I stated in a previous thread, offer to take Green off of Arizona's hands and pay the whole salary, but then take one of their prized prospects, too.
  16. I could live with one year of Preston Wilson with Corey as the 4th OF'er. Just so long as it's only ONE year, and that if he truly sucks hardcore, he gets replaced for a bit.
  17. The US Gov't is denying Cuba entry into the WBC... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051215/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bbi_classic_cuba_denied Just what we need. More BS political games. Sulley should be thrilled. The WBC is trying to re-instate Cuba.
  18. Cabrera and Dontrelle no doubt would be great here, but I don't know if you want to completely clean out the farm system for any player.
  19. I wish we could have signed Mueller to play 2nd and force Neifi to the bench.
  20. I think it was a Saturday Fox game...it was definitely in May though. No, I think it was a Sunday WGN game. And I also believe that it was Mother's Day, just like it was Mother's Day when Sammy got beaned by Solomon Torres. That was Easter in 2003 :D Mark Grace hit for the cycle on Mother's Day 1993, right?
  21. Would it be wise to let Arizona dump Green on us if we pay his entire salary? But of course, to take him off their hands, it would cost one of those prospects.
  22. What about deleting old game threads from 2003 and 2004?
  23. For the love of...... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2256622 Who here thinks that within a year, there will be conflicting opinions/irreconcilable differences and one will be forced out by the other? That whole thing is just asking for a public blowup.
  24. I suggested it too and got the same response. If Vidro can play I wouldn't mind seeing him in Chicago. If all it took was Patterson and a minor league pitcher I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Hendry needs to remake this team. The idea that Walker is untouchable doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. They've misssed the playoffs twice with him, what's the difference if they miss the playoffs without him? If Vidro can be more help than Walker, then Vidro's worth the risk. It's that simple. I've never been a fan of this line of thinking. They haven't won with him, correct, but that doesn't mean they can't win with him. They shouldn't trade him just because they can. Should we trade Lee? We haven't made the playoffs with him, either. Just because we haven't won with the guy doesn't mean we should be itching to trade him. It's not his fault the guys around him this year sucked, save a few.
  25. They'll throw a bunch of money at him, give him all sorts of cushy benefits and he'll say he loves Baltimore, or that this whole thing was a "misunderstanding." If Miguel Tejada becomes a Cub, I'll have Richard Simmons as my avatar until Opening Day.
