  1. Hendry traded for Lee, Ramirez and Nomar. Granted, the other moves he's made have mostly been sheer idiocy, but he has brought in the big names. But he won't here. He's gotta be on drugs or something for as bad as he's been lately.
  2. I think he got himself a pair of Dusty Dice. Anyone want to make a pair of Hendry dice?
  3. Poor Walker. Are there really still Hendry or Dusty defenders anymore? I don't think Hendry gets free passes anymore for Lee and Aram. That ship has sailed.
  4. Or they'll have to see what they can get for Jones after the season.
  5. I'm not sure about the award, but they gave up a good pospect. I also heard something about Coletti not wanting to deal with the Cubs. Why not? I'm sure he could have gotten a king's ransom from Hendry.
  6. Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Jones Barrett Cedeno Murton? Crap, I don't know how to do this.
  7. You may want to edit out the feces reference. You may want to get rid of that HUGE trump pic. :pukel: Yeah, I was messing around with different pics till I found one I liked that wasn't really huge. Sorry about that. Heh.
  8. You may want to edit out the feces reference.
  9. Patterson for Manny, straight up. Where do I sign?
  10. Will you please leave. What did I do? What I said was true, as it stands the Cubs are better than last year. Sheesh. You gave him HOPE and that is a dangerous thing for any Cubs fan to have  According to BP the Cubs finished about 6-7 wins less than they should have: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/standings.php PLUS they upgraded that team. Oh and the Cards finished well above what they should have. Oh great. Now the Cubs should finish with 10-15 wins less than they should have. Unless Rolan is back strong and the Cards make some nice moves I'm saying the Cubs could take the central no problem. As it stands the 06 Cubs are better than the 05 Cubs (that were really about a 86 win team). Stand away from the ledge guys. Easy for you to say. At least your GM has some sort of a clue. He may not be the best around, but he's not a drooling, simpering moron who's leading your team down a pit of doom and gloom? True Cub fans know what it's like right now. Although, I'm not really angry. I'm numb. I think I've trained myself to never get angry anymore at the moves this team makes because a) nothing shocks me anymore, and b) I'm tired of getting hurt.
  11. Yeah, and IF I win the lottery, I'll be rich. I'm not holding my breath for either to happen.
  12. Would love Perez for the bench/platoon as well(especially now), maybe it will serve to pacify Baker's "need" to put his fingerprints on everything and anything. Walker best be here batting 2nd opening day, unless used in a deal for a difference maker only. I have to believe he will be since the Cubs don't need to trade for an OFer anymore I'm not convinced. Patterson still has to be moved and I see Walker (and others) being included in a deal to get another MI or SP. At this point, we can't afford to move Walker. We need his bat more than ever. Trading Walker now would be stupid. So basically it's gauranteed to happen. *points to sig*
  13. Baseball Prospectus calculates FRAR, which is fielding runs saved over replacement. Can someone post that, please? I would like to know just how many runs Jacques "Savior" Jones is going to save us this year in right.
  14. I'll do you one better. Let's give Dusty a 5-year extention while we're at it, trade the farm for Alfonseca and Heredia, and give Doug Mientkieaveoiweascz an A-Rod like deal because he plays good D, too.
  15. Defense is not nearly as important in baseball as it is in the other major sports. Gold Glove defense is not that great if the guy providing it is hitting .230 and not getting on base more than 30% of the time. You'd be better off taking a 40 point raise in OBP and a downgrade on the defense. Is there some sort of equation out there that figures out how many runs a Gold Glove right fielder saves with his defense over the league average?
  16. But a difference of 1 million dollars between the first season at 5 and the 1 yr deal you use as an example is fairly inconsequential within a $100m payroll. Your point is that you would be glad his contract is off the books after one year, so don't the years actually bother you more than the money? Actually, you're right. The years do bother me. This means that he'll either a very expensive backup, or the starting RF'er through 2008, unless we can move him. But who, other than Hendry, would want Freedom Fries Jones?
  17. I disagree - I think the three years is pretty **** bad. If it was, say, 3 years, $7 million, it would be better. Who in the hell would take Jacque Jones off our hands at 5+ million per year? Do you think we could get him for around $2 million a year? Are you serious? No, I'm not serious at all. I was just making an example. I'm just saying the money bothered me more than the length of contract. If it was a 1 year deal at 6 million, at least he'd be off the books come next offseason, but we're stuck paying him $5 million each of the next 2 years after that.

  19. The Cubs might be looking for a RH to compliment him. Platooning Jones is fine by me, as the less ABs he gets the better. But why in the name of all that is good and holy would you commit three years to a platoon player? The three years doesn't bother me as much as the $16 million does.
  20. And risk the Cardinals grabbing him? Yeah. What a loss that would have been. Good thing Jim acted when he did or Jacque "MVP" Jones would be in RF for the Cardinals next year.
  21. Merry Christmas, Cubs fans! Jacque Jones is your present. We've been bad. Very, very bad.
  22. Yeah, Jim, defense really is the key to victory. Try to sell that when we're 10 games under .500 on June 1st.
  23. This is a family board so I can't post a picture of my reaction. It wasn't pretty. I want to make a teeshirt out of that! You want to walk around with Tree's face on your chest? Dude, you have issues.
