  1. The Reds haven't had a sustained suckage streak like this since the 1940s (yet somehow they kick our asses at the most inopportune times.) Lindner's looking to sell off controlling interest, so maybe Allen and his cronies will be sent packing one day. I hope so, not for the goofballs who show up at GABP but for the diehards who've stuck with the club for years and years.
  2. There were a TON of kids there, all wearing matching shirts so their masters could easily collect them. They and their ignorant elders among the Reds' fandom were dazzled by the artificial enthusiasm crap on the scoreboard. Cincinnati hasn't been a good baseball town in years. Opening Day brings some passion, then Cub fans bring some to town for 2-3 series a year. That's it.
  3. He's like a striped bass, dude ...

He doesn't even wait for the others anymore, the goofball initiated 3-4 meetings himself today in the (thankfully) short time he was in there.
  5. I couldn't believe my eyes when Maddux swung away into the DP in the fifth. Why not try a squeeze, or at least show bunt there? Anything to put pressure on the defense. One poor Cub fan in my section upon seeing Baker's complete lack of creativity jumped up, did a dance and slapped his head. He was an older gent presumably fed up with spending his waning days watching Dusty ruin the lives of several million Cub fans. Why pull Maddux in the sixth? The weather was unbearable, but Maddux hadn't pushed himself much, and he had a relatively low pitch count. The pen needs work, sure, but if that's true why go there when we didn't have to? Starting the eighth with Novoa and no one stirring in the pen was an unbelieveably optimistic choice. The kid did well to get out of the seventh ... why push it? Walking Griffey in the eighth was stupid. Kearns has been hitting well at Louisville, was salivating at the chance to contribute and has been a Cub killer since coming up. Everyone in the park saw his hit coming ... I make Griffey beat me. Not to mention the fact that had we gone into extras we'd have done so with a lineup double-switched into oblivion with Neifi and Macias up to their old tricks. Baker's prints were all over Wednesday's loss as well. The criminal misuse of the pen has been covered, but there's no way Harang goes nine if this club had any notion of how to work a pitcher. Baker tells the guys to go up there a hackin', and by God that's what they did ... all freaking night, even when Harang was on the ropes late. Dusty is an idiot.
  6. Dusty was as stupid as ever today. The difference is this time I got sunburned all to hell watching it.
  7. Go to a bar, and ask them to watch the game there. *shrug* Couldn't hurt. I thought about it - that's pretty much my only chance. I've done it before, and I've never had a bar/restaurant turn me down. In the past couple years I had to do that for Bears games when I was on the road. Gotta get your spot early for football.... Sauce I do have xm radio, but that's in my car. I love the Cubs, but I'm not sitting in a parked car for 2.5 hours tonight just to hear the game. I'm already at my hotel, with another 2 hour work day planned for tomorrow, and Thursday too. I plan on playing golf for the first time this year tomorrow. So if I miss a game, with this awesomely easy week I set up it's worth it. Figured this place would have it.... no high speed land line and no WGN! Honestly, I will ask a hotel when making the reservation to check if they have WGN, but I'm like 4 hours from the Chi, I thought for sure they'd get WGN. You should be able to get WGN's terrestrial signal within that range. In addition, if memory serves, there are a couple of Cub affiliates in Michigan ... might be worth spinning the clock radio dial.
  8. The Mets and Reds - and Royals, too - storied teams with instantly recognizable uniform designs who totally raped said designs. That's worse to me than the crap put out there by Tampa, Toronto, etc. - those teams never had decent uniforms to begin with.
  9. I like seeing Leiter fail, but I LOVE seeing the Marlins look stupid.
  10. It doesn't make up for his blatant cheerleading during the '03 NLCS, but it's pretty satisfying seeing his career (hopefully) end on such an embarrassing note at the hands of the Cubs.
  11. There are some awesome tickets available for the Cubs' upcoming series in Cincinnati. They've released several nice sets of Terrace Dugout seats in the first five rows behind the benches for all four games. It's a great spot, and it's usually difficult to get multiples in those sections. $60 a pop.
  12. Ridiculous. If he lived there, and ever paid anything other than lip service to his "people," it would be different. He deserves the boos.
  13. That was awesome. "YOU'RE A REAL MAN, DEION"
  14. One of the personalities on WLS said they had seen him in uniform last week ... apparently he's taking a vacation from his woman.
  15. Hey, I love my Honda! He can't help it Derwood, he likes having to buy a new car every 80,000 miles  Just turned over 162,000 rice-busting miles, and set for many more. Thanks anyway.
  16. That car is awesome. I'd love Detroit, no crappy foreign cars littering the streets. That'd make putting up with all the other litter and crack houses worthwhile.
  17. That's revenge for Harold Baines' hit off Sutcliffe in '89.
  18. Pujols modeling the latest in helmetology.
  19. I liked it.
