    I think that's the first time I've ever seen the words "competent" and "Bowden" in the same sentence. Bowden would still be in Cincinnati if not for the Reds' ignorant owner, Carl Lidner's insistence that Barry Larkin remain a Red back in 2000. That contract and Griffey's implosion destroyed the team. He had at least a plan; the current management has run the franchise into the ground.

    The Reds are the worst-run club in the NL. Things were better with Marge - at least they had an owner who wanted to win and a competent GM in Bowden.

I still think Murton should get a shot until he proves he can't handle it, unless of course a monster should come our way (Huff, ManRam). Can't you just see Dusty not playing Huff or someone right away? "We've got to ease the dude in, man. I mean, he doesn't have any experience in our ballpark, and that's big, dude." Dusty started Enrique F. Wilson. Nothing's impossible ...

    Awesome column. Mariotti, IMO, is a tool. He garners zero respect from me (as if THAT really matters). IMO, he has no standing to preach as if he is a Cub fan, because he is not! He doesn't know jack. Whatever. Mariotti is a tool - and I think he hates the Cubs - but he was right on the money with this one.

Whoever included that has no concept of human suffering and deserves the same fate someday - seeing the sum of his baseball hopes and dreams flushed in a matter of minutes. There is nothing like that here at NSBB. WSI is as big a bastion of bastards as any other Sox board.
