  1. They have a bunch of nice players and pitchers to shop for, but I'd rather not with Amaya. The Cubs have nothing there in the pipeline. Don't give me that horsefeathers about Moises until he drops 40 pounds.
  2. you know that's what they are going to do though.
  3. he's the 1/2.
  4. At this point, I don't think Wiggins can even be considered a starter. Half the time he was used out of the pen in college. He's a lottery ticket.
  5. Just playing devil's advocate, they can get similar slugging numbers far cheaper.
  6. Michigan over OSU - then over whoever in the Big10 title game Alabama over Georgia in the title game Washington wins out west Georgia or OSU will be the fourth team. Michigan (1) vs Georgia/OSU (4) Washington (2) vs Alabama (3) Right now, I kind of like Alabama. If things play out that way, I don't know how they'd pick from OSU or GA. Maybe if FSU wins out. but how they win without Travis is a question.
  7. Good sign by the Cardinals. I expect them to have a huge bounce-back year. Not so sure about Marmol though, I figured they would have fired him by now.
  8. I really like McMahon, but I think the price would be a little steeper than the rest of the names. Anyway, I like Wisdom ok enough. He's going to win some games. He used to have a pretty decent glove too. I'm not sure what happened. I think lack of regular playing time. It's hard to do that when he goes into a death spiral.
  9. I agree with both of you. It's hard to measure pitchability - and Wicks has that. His changeup is devastating. It's an out pitch and doesn't really rely on movement per say. Having Hendricks on the team is going to be great for him. They are very similar pitchers.
  10. We kind of hit on that in the college football thread. In general, the talent coming out of college is mediocre. Maybe mediocre isn't the right word, but more equal. The result is a small standard deviation of talent.
  11. He's got all the check-off boxes. He is the son of a legendary HS football coach. He has a great arm, size, and mobility. He was at Auburn under terrible conditions with an awful coach. I think he has a lot of the ingredients to make a great NFL QB.
  12. It's interesting and weird how things are trending in the first few years of NIL. Some of the "haves" are spending a lot of money and not getting a great ROI and others that used to be in the mix aren't spending and also are not able to compete at the highest level. I was a little worried that there would coalesce at the top about 3 or 4 teams and then everyone else based on NIL, that doesn't seem to be the case. But college football is overall really mediocre right now.
  13. you have nothing but bad takes.
  14. I believe his destiny lies in the late innings. But I want to give him every opportunity to see if he can be a starter.
  15. I didn't say he was depressed. I said he looked depressed. Being one of the best-rushing QBs in NFL history is not a mark in his favor. He's been awful and continues to be awful and he's not looking like he's going to get any better. If he does, great. I don't understand how sitting on the bench watching a backup have games that a backup will have has changed anyone's opinion on him. We can assign blame any way we want for his failure. I think it falls mainly on the coaches and Bears front office. He's the same as he was the day they drafted him. That's not necessarily his fault. It doesn't change anything about the situation either.
  16. I like him better from the stretch than his hurry-up wind-up. He's more in control of his body.
  17. I've been to Vegas once for a conference. it's one of the most depressing places I've ever visited. At least for me. As soon as I stepped off the plane and passed my gate at the airport I immediately saw a bunch of geriatrics sitting at slot machines inside the airport mindlessly pulling the lever. It reminded me of a rat lab at college. Then on the taxi ride seeing the fakeness of everything on whatever street the strip is on and adjacent to made my stomach turn. I know some people love to gamble and go to shows and whatnot, but that place gives me the creeps. I'm not a gambler and the fakeness of everything is off-putting.
  18. I don't believe it either and Fields is not a better player. He's an abject failure to this point and appears to get a little worse every game he starts. He's been standing on the sidelines looking depressed for three weeks. He needs to go out and start and show that he has the talent to be a QB. If he fails, his value is going to be pretty low.
  19. It's not nothing, but how much of something it is we shall see. I mean I remember when Carlos Beltran was there for the taking and the Cubs sat on the sidelines. I'm really happy they are at least saying the right things.
  20. For some reason it's so much faster in person than on TV. I
  21. They proved that with the manager search. I'd really love to know if Counsel didn't reach out to them and let them know he was interested in staying in the area. We will never know.
  22. I like Jack Flaherty on an incentive-laden contract. Overall, he's a decent human and I hope he finds success.
