Hotlantadugout.com is reporting that the Yankees and Farnsworth have agreed to a 3/17 contract. There's no confirmation on any national media site. Several NY Yankee message boards are running with it as well.

Take it with a grain of salt.

For what it's worth, MLB.com as well as the Yankee's site are reporting that the yabks have offered a three year deal between $15-$17 million

The average Yankee fan will love Farnsworth. He is a hulking pitcher who is a little wild and throws gas. Can you imagine what will happen if Veritec goes after A-Rod? Farns will plant him.

As long as Torre doesn't abuse him like Dusty did he will be fine. However, Torree has a bad history of going with the hot hand, just like Dusty.

If that contract is finalized it will enter the Ed Whitson-Kenny Rogers-Jaret Wright wing of the Yankees' Free Agent Signing Hall of Shame, reserved for pitchers who never should have donned the pinstripes.

Yea....they will love him as a football player.....hate him as a pitcher. I can see him sweating already....he will be run out of town within 2 years. Dusty abused him? By putting him into games and expecting him to get people out? Did Cox abuse him when he put him this fall and he imloded in Houston? The guy tanks in pressure situations. The Yankees are giving him 15 mil to do what? Tackle people?

To add some validity to the 3/17 rumor, Ken Rosenthal has now reported it as well.

Link.

The Yankees, moving to bolster their bullpen in front of closer Mariano Rivera, are close to signing free-agent right-hander Kyle Farnsworth to a three-year contract for more than $17 million, FOXSports.com has learned.

Farnsworth, 29, likely will be the replacement for free-agent right-hander Tom Gordon, 38. The Yankees remain in contact with Gordon, but Gordon also is being pursued by the Phillies, Orioles, Tigers and Indians — teams that would use him, and pay him, as a closer.

Subjectively, I always liked Farnsworth and wished we had kept him. But if this report is true, I am feeling a little better about the Howry and Eyre contracts.

ESPN is reporting that Farns's agent has informed the Braves that Kyle will sign with the Yankees.

Let's hope this is a move that makes Schurholtz change his priorities from Furcal to Hoffman.

What about Todd Jones? I thought I read somewhere that he wants to pitch for the Braves, and he'll be a lot cheaper than Hoffman too.

Good point. I forgot about T.Jones.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything relating to being a canine lacking certain abdominal parts with something lodged in his throat.

If BJ Ryan thinks the pressure of being a Yankee is too much to sign with the team, I wonder what'll happen to Farns.

Since I can't seem to create a new topic I'll post it here:

Looks like the Phillies have signed Flash Gordon to a 3 year deal.

Rotoworld:

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Philles and Tom Gordon have agreed to a three-year deal.

It will be worth between $18 million and $21 million. Gordon will almost surely take over as the Phillies' closer, and he'll probably do a fine job in that role in 2006. Considering that he's 38, there's no way he should be getting a three-year deal. Still, it's what the Phillies had to do to land him. Dec. 1 - 11:13 pm et

This just helps to increase Farnsworth's deal. The Rangers still think they have a chance to whoo him but most likely Farnsworth's agent is using them to get more money out of the Yankees.
