Meh, I tried to make a topic too.

I made the topic on the Orioles/Mets trade about 45 minutes before it appeared

I've tried starting 3 different threads in the past couple of hours and none have shown up.

Now it looks like the Rangers have jumped into the bidding for Farnsworth.

The Texas Rangers emerged Thursday as the chief competitor for the New York Yankees in their bid to sign reliever Kyle Farnsworth.

The Yankees think they are the leading contender to sign Farnsworth, who likely will command $17 million to $19 million over three years.

The article goes on to discuss the fact that there's some discrepancies on whether or not Farnsworth called the Braves and said he was signing with the Yankees.

But 19 million for Farnsworth?!?

I could see giving the Farns a 3-year deal if the 3 years included 2 odd years. But this one will include 2006 and 2008. Don't teams know Farns sucks in even years???

$19 million is ridiculous. I hope the Yankees sign him.

The Cubs BP is set, who cares? Let Texas have him for 19 mil.

It's Complete:

Kyle Farnsworth - R - Braves

The Yankees and Kyle Farnsworth have agreed to terms on a three-year, $17 million deal, according to The Associated Press.

It looks like it's really happened this time. Farnsworth reconsidered after a late bid from the Rangers yesterday. It's believed the Rangers offered a three-year deal with a vesting option for 2009. Dec. 2 - 3:38 pm et

By my reckoning, that's now $167.5m handed out in multi-year deals for free-agent relievers so far this off-season.

The Cubs are responsible for $38.5m of that.

Farnsworth $6MM/year

Gordon $6MM/year

vs.

Howry $4MM/year

Eyre $3.5MM/year

----------------------------------

Wagner $10MM/year

Ryan $9.5MM/year

vs.

Dempster $5MM/year

Looks good to me. Now get Furcal signed and trade for Bradley, fer crying out loud!

Farnsworth a Yankee - got a bad feeling on this one, for him. I just don't think half a season with Mazzone is going to be enough for him to deal well in that arena. If I were him, I would have begged Leo to take me to Baltimore, even if it meant I had to ride in the cargo part of the moving truck.

But there's just too much ego in Farns, the way I take it, for him to be interested in becoming a truly great pitcher. Makes me crazy to see so much natural talent... with a two-cent brain running the show.

But its going to be great if the Yanks try to have Farns retaliate in someway against the Red Sox. I really want to see this happen, almost more than wanting to see a Glenallen Hill collision at home.

They need a tough guy on that team. Farns is like an enforcer in hockey.

Farns should realize his true calling: WWE. Or perhaps a backup tackle on the Seahawks - so far the team is doing all right, but you never know when that injury bug is going to bite.
