According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have interest in Garciaparra if he's willing to play first or the outfield.

The Orioles are also talking to Arn Tellem, the agent for the Chicago Cubs' Nomar Garciaparra, but if they signed the former Boston Red Sox shortstop, who also played some third base for Chicago, it would only be if he were willing to play first base or the outfield.

"Melvin Mora is our third baseman," Flanagan said. "It's as simple as that."

That's interesting.... :-k

I would think it would make more sense to put Mora in the outfield, considering he has played quite a bit of CF and LF in his career and was actually decent with the glove.

I really dont understand Baltimore's thinking. They keep adding pieces to their offense which was ranked 15th believe it or not but they also need pitching which is ranked at the bottom of pack. If I was them I would go for more pitching over more offense.

Being 15th in offense isn't that good.

It's not but what I'm saying is their pitching is even worse.

Heard on LA radio last night that LA's looking @ Nomar for 3b and Overbaby for 1b.

I have a feeling Nomar will end up in L.A. Last I had read though, Milwaukee is thinking of holding onto Overbay.

Yep, LA needs to add some name players to try and keep up w/ Anaheim. My money's on LA getting Nomar. Pretty good fit for both sides.

Maybe Milwaukee wants to bring in a nice haul of them shiny dodger prospects and they put themselves in a good position to do that by stating their intentions of keeping Overbay.

The worse this offseason gets, the more I wish we wouldn't have told Nomar to go screw himself.

Just look at his stats after coming back from his groin injury

.318/.347/.531/.878

I would take that on this team any day of the week.

What we should have done was promise Nomar regular playing time where we could find it, and see if he was willing to give it a chance. That means if we can't get a overall better shortstop, Nomar plays short. If we do, but can't get a better overall corner outfielder, Nomar plays a corner. If we don't have an everyday starting spot, then Nomar plays short/left field/third/first, and gets 3 good starts a week.

I think he would have listened so long as we promised to trade him to a contender if we fell out, or he wasn't being used enough.

I've read that Overbay is as good as gone, and the Brewers are ready to start Prince Fielder at first.
