ND beats Vandy 79-69 in the first round of the NIT and will either host UTEP or go to Michigan in the 2nd round on Monday (wild guess is that it's the latter).

Francis with 23 and 10. If he played like that all year, we'd be playing tomorrow or Friday.

It'll be an ND-Michigan grudge match on Monday night in Ann Arbor. UM has won the last two meetings by a total of five points, so the Irish have revenge on their mind, as well as possibly facing Creighton or Miami in the next round.

There are so many obscenities. So many obscenities.

Michigan 87, ND 84 in double OT on a buzzer-beating fadeaway 3 that had no business going in. NONE. Horton had no clue what he was doing and he passes over to his teammate who fires up a crazy shot with a second left and it goes in.

How many times? How many times?

Chris Quinn - one of the understated greats in ND history - goes out in predictable fashion. Fighting to the end with no one on his team stepping up. Although he missed the FT that set up the game-winning shot for Michigan, his team would never have gotten anywhere without him.

14 losses - 13 by single digits, 12 by 6 or less.

I...don't even know what to say.

Tough loss.

Who is that Charlie Villanueva look alike on your team? Man that guy is ugly!

I believe you are referring to Rick Cornett (I'd never once thought of him as looking like Villanueva, but now I think of it he kinda does). ND is not the most female-friendly team in terms of looks, that's for sure.

Michigan will probably win the whole thing now - them or Louisville.

I think you guys had enough losses like this to last you for a couple of years. Next year things should be turned in your favor. Of course since Syr beat you by double digits that should continue.

You only beat us by six. Although you probably dominated ND in that game more so than any team other than NC State did this whole season, sadly enough.

Unfortunately, I think next season might have to be a rebuilding year. You lose two guys who have started for the last three years (Francis for the last four) and it isn't going to be easy to replace them. We'll see.

I have to mention that I loved Brey's reaction to the shot - he just laughed and headed over to Amaker to shake his hand. I think he was just glad to be done with this season.

Quinn's a good player. NIT should to be changed to NTI for Not That Interesting.

Not Important Tournament

You know what, that may be true for teams that played below expectations. But for a rebuilding program, it can be a reward for progress and a springboard for next year. Penn State making a postseason tournament was huge for that program.

Oh trust me I think it is very important to teams like that. For Mizzou last year I was happy that they made it because it meant more time for the young starters to develop their game, plus it gets more exposure to the team. I have nothing against the tournament, I was just poking a little fun.
