10 weeks after surgery, Kerry Wood has full range of motion in his shoulder.

"I can move it almost anywhere I want, and I'm gaining some strength," he said.

Wood expects to be ready to begin the season in the rotation. "I'm anticipating being on the mound in spring training," Wood said Thursday. "My rehab program and projection takes me to spring training, and I'll definitely be throwing then. I anticipate getting my innings."

If Wood and Prior are at 2003 level and Hendry does even a below-average job filling out the offense, I have a hard time not seeing the Cubs in the playoffs.

I feel like I hear this every season :?

Except this time we have more than just blind faith to lead us to believe it. Prior hasn't been hurt since 04 except for that fluke line drive, and Wood sounds really healthy for once.

I'm looking forward to Wood returning to his 2003 numbers.

But then he won't have won more than 14 games so according to all of baseball pitching historians or one NSBBaller, he sucks and is a horrible pitcher and should waive his no-trade clause out of shame.

Wood will stay healthy if he changes his pitching style. If he continues to throw across his body and with such force that he falls off the mound to the first base side, then he will be injured again.

Agreed. Anyone else want Steve Stone as pitching coach?

Steve Stone wouldn't make my top ten of desired pitching coaches.
