I have seen no words on Macias, what was his contract like? We don't have him another year???? Do we? I thought with all the forum "rage " going on with Neifi" it would be a good time to bring up his twin Ewok

I think the fact tha Neifi got resigned, and the presence of Cedeno probably dooms Macias to being non tendered. There's no reason to have Cedeno and Perez and Macias.

There should be no reason to bring Macias back, so I'll assume he won't be.

If Neifi had resigned, the fiesta would continue through the weekend. But since he re-signed instead, there is no need for Macias.

The Cubs will have to decide whether to tender Macias a contract. His situation is the same as Hairston and Patterson.

Then the bench is filled by?? Grieves? Who is a free agent?

If Cedeno could switch hit and play the OF I'd say Macias is gone, but it's too early to count him out. We'll have to see how the OF situation plays out.

I'm not betting against Macias being a Cub in 2006 until I find out that another team has signed him, and even then I won't be completely secure. This organization is legitimately scaring the crap out of me lately.

I'll just randomly repeat the quote above in case it gets lost anywhere in this thread. Look at those numbers closely.

Make the letters/numbers big enough so Hendry can see them no matter where he is.

With Walker, Hairston and Perez there was no reason to have Macias last year either...

December 20th.

The question is - will the gift be Macias' or ours?

Thanks!

I think is to close to call. If Hendry can somehow maneuver a deal to get a multi-skilled player to take his place he might be let go. Hairston is an upgrade on Macias and does he same things so I wish Hendry would get a 3rd/1st base guy that could hit the ball out of the park once in awhile.

Yep, that was our first bat off the bench in '05.

If Macias is back that just goes to show you how incompetent the GM and manager are when you give a contract to a pinch-hitter with a .185 AVG.

Macias had twice as many PH at bats than any other Cub player last year.

well, he did inspire confidence during his many sim games for Wood and Prior. :)

You do realize it's MORON, don't you? Unless you're referring to JH's obvious resemblance to Erin Moran (a.k.a. Joanie Cunningham).

Agreed. Until things are official with players, I'm not going to assume anything.
