Braves expected to increase their offer to Furcal per FOX

The Braves are expected to increase their offer to free-agent shortstop Rafael Furcal from three years to four and perhaps add a fifth year as a club option. If the Braves sign Furcal, trading second baseman Marcus Giles, a free agent after the 2007 season, could be a possibility. If Furcal departs, the team could pursue a stopgap at short or go with rookie Tony Pena Jr. while upgrading the offense and bullpen. Pena is ready defensively.

How about Walker and some young arms of ours to ATL then for Giles. Ronny and Marcus take ss and 2b respectively, with Neifi backing them both up?

This is bad news. I wasn't high on Furcal before the Neifi signing, but the last $5M Hendry threw away has changed my mind.

 

I hope Hendry has a backup plan for the MI that doesn't involve Neifi as a starter.

I didn't say that, I don't think we'll go after BOTH of those guys. First, we don't have the $ and 2nd I think the Cards are looking to upgrade their pitching.

Funny how we hear the same old record every year. The Cardinals don't have any talent to trade.... What? They just traded for _________.
