Riske has an extreme flyball profile, so, in that regard, one might consider him to be a bit, shall we say, risky?

Sizemore:

  • BA's #1 Indians prospect after the '03 season.
BA's #7 Indians prospect after the '02 season.

yup, he was the 2004 Indians' top prospect. two years ago brings us to 2003. in that year he was ranked no higher than 7th in the system, not "elite" by any means.

it's like J. Leicester (8th ranked prospect in our system according to BA at the beginning of the year) coming through to be a major contributor at the MLB level in the next two years (a huge longshot).

I guess I shouldn't have even gotten into this. What does Sizemore's history as a prospect have to do with his current value?

I'd rather have Betancourt than Riske.

So would I, but he's still a 0-3 guy, so I doubt there's much incentive for the Indians to move him for a salaried guy they're going to use as an extra man.

Yeah, they love him, fans love him, he's young, cheap, and they have no one beating down the door to replace him. Similar to David Wright in availability IMO(i.e. nonexistent).

it's not like he's untouchable and has been for some time (like Pie seemingly is). he was a longshot to pan out and he did...for one season. one season.

i just don't think his value is as high as you believe. he's not a 5 tool player, or even that great of a defender. it would take a good/great prospect or two to land him though just b/c of that one season of offensive production plus a vet like walker. with snyder waiting in the wings, sizemore is cheaply replaceable for the indians. he's not untouchable.

Cleveland won't trade Sizemore for anyone. He just turned 23, so the numbers he put up this past year was at 22 years of age. 70 XBH's, 22 stolen bases, 111 runs scored. Those are the kinds of guys you build around, not trade.

I don't know what the Indians payroll situation is, but I wonder if they'd have any interest in trading Jake Westbrook and if the Cubs would have any interest there.

I don't really want him, but he seems like the kind of innings eater at the kind of moderate salary the Cubs might like.

he's not untouchable, but his value is very high. we'd get raped trying to acquire him, but it could be done. it won't. JH isn't a moron when it come to trades. i could see kevin towers doing it though.

I still see Walker going for some bullpen help. What pitchers do the Indians have that walk and K a lot of guys?

The Indians don't really have a lot of(any?) high walk guys. Betancourt K's a lot of guys, he's the only one that K's more than one per inning.

What is there for Hendry to like then? :D

how about we keep the cheap, productive 2b who wants to play here?

Reports are that Jim Hendry walked into the clubhouse late last year after Walker had lost a bet and was compelled to shove his mouth full of Lemonheads. Apparently, Hendry mistook the sour look on Walker's face for him being a general malcontent. As luck would have it, Neifi told Jim a knock-knock joke on the way out. From there on, it was a no brainer who was better for the clubhouse.

what other mlb caliber trade bait do we have on this team (lee, aram, and barrett aren't being traded with hendry as GM)? walker is a good player at a decent price. we should be able to fill a hole on this team, provided Cedeno/Neifi pan out at 2b.

That's hilarious. And plausible! :thumleft:

No way we get Sizemore for Walker . Reports out of Ohio had the Indians calling the Phillies and Boston looking for Thome or Ramirez, the Indians backed away because in order for either team to trade Thome or Ramirez while picking up some of the check they wanted Sizemore and prospects or Sizemore and Lee.

yeah, but the rumors seem to point towards walker being dished off. we have a few holes to fill and FA isn't going to cover it.

so we're trading walker to open up another hole?

wow.

omfg. they wouldn't take ramirez + cash for sizemore and prospects? i'm sorry, sizemore is awesome, but that's just stupid.

as good as sizemore is, some of that is a function of pitchers not knowing your hole(s). his ceiling will never touch manny's numbers.
