Good job of voting for current players. Really nice job. This is a joke. You can not tell me Sammy shouldn't be on this along with many others. Pujols has played for what...4 years?

Agreed. And Tony Perez deserves some consideration as well.

I agree that Perez should have been at first. Also, there HAS to be a better starting pitcher than Fernando.

Carlos Zambrano.

Raffy's not better than Pujols. Sosa should probably be up there in front of Vlad, but fans are what have you done for me lately types.

Isn't Sosa 3rd or 4th on the All-Time HR list? How can anyone pass that up? I guess it was a really good idea to have the fans vote for this.

Luis Tiant says hello.

I don't have too much argument with the current players. Pujols is a better player than Perez ever was. I suppose you could make an argument for Sammy - maybe even Minnie Minoso or Tony Oliva - being in the OF, but Vlad has been around a while and is almost at the point where, if he were to retire tomorrow, could be a hall-of-famer. I'd probably take him over Manny, who is clearly been a better pure hitter in his career than Sammy. The biggest omission here is Roberto Alomar who belongs at second over Rod Carew. Also, Edgar Martinez is kind of a weak candidate at 3B, as he was primarily a DH. Maybe in a few years Aramis can stake his claim on this list.

But it doesn't surprise me that the list is heavily tilted toward modern day players considering the explosion of latin players over the last decade or so.

How about Ted Willams? The first inductee in the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame in San Francisco. Guess he wasn't on the list because they thought he didn't represent the hispanic community.

I'll take Sammy over Vlad and Manny.

Probably Alomar over Carew, too. Carew was the better hitter, but I don't remember much about his glove. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't even remember him playing second. Wasn't he a first baseman?

Baseball Reference says 1184 games at 1B, 1130 at 2B.

And if you like BP's fielding metrics, Carew profiles as an average defensive 2B, and at 1B too for that matter.

Carew started his career at 2nd and moved to 1st in his later days.

I'll take Carew over Alomar all day long. Carew put up those awesome numbers in the dead ball era.

Don't hate on Al. It's 5 years BTW.

I know it's all but impossible to keep up the current pace, but if Albert plays 15 years at current rate then Tony Perez wouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.

603 HR

.332 AVG

2946 hits

1863 RBI

1.037 ops

1887 runs

That's only 15 years.

I believe Sosa is 6th behind Aaron, Ruth, Bonds, Mays and Robinson.

5 - Sosa 588

6 - Robinson 586
