But most of all, I just want this darn season to be over. Maybe I'm too optimistic that some of their inferiority complex will go away after this, though.

Oh trust me, it won't. I've already been told that the Cubs "better not win it for at least 20 years" because the Sox "need their time to shine". The White Sox's stupid little unloved child complex is beginning to truly annoy me. Ozzie Guillen had already said he hates Wrigley Field and bashed Dusty Baker about not supporting the Sox this postseason (because we all know Ozzie would be all dressed in blue if the roles were reversed). Even in the playoffs, the Sox and their fans can't stop whining about the Cubs.

I have no problem with anybody bashing Dusty, no matter what the reason.

I envy you Gar.

How is Vegas goin?

Mid 70's and clear skies. Free drinks and access to every NFL game. This is great. It seems as though the most important thing is that I am not near Sox fans until the New Year. Keith and Julie are just miserable.

And thank you very much.

I'm wearing a Cubs jersey and hat to class tomorrow.

Seconded.

The most annoying part about this is that my "They Gone Since 1917" shirt that I just bought in June is already going to be out of date.

Most of my friends who are Sox fans, keep wanting me to join their side and hop on the bandwagon. I just refuse and it pisses them off because "it's for Chicago."

I still think that's a lame excuse. We're supposed to be a World-class city and we want a sports championship to define us. That's weak and I don't recall hearing people in NY or LA saying that.

I live about a mile SW of The Cellblock, I wear my Cubs cap almost everyday. No animosity towards me, just some good natured ribbing and calls to jump on the bandwagon.

As for what I'm gonna do when the Sox clinch? A self-imposed local media blackout for about a week. No newspaper, local TV or radio. I get all the relevant Cub news right here and at Desipio.com.

I think it would be a good idea for Cubs fans to just appear indifferent to this and not let it bother them (at least on the outside). That would kill half the victory for many White Sox fans.

I'm thinking of going to the first Sox spring training game here in Tucson wearing Cubs gear. Edited by EricG

Wore a Cubs jersey to school today. It was funny the comments I got. Some said some negative things about the Cubs and asked if I wore it on purpose, while others gave me high-fives and congratulated me.

Well worth it to get a rise out of Sox fans. Fortunately, I was in a protected environment.

Agreed. I wore my Cubs hat to work today again (like I always do), and people started giving me crap. They'd sit there and tell me how great it was to support a winning team, and how great it feels to be a world champion. (Then there were the customary words that I can't put on here) When I looked at them with a straight face and said, "Congratulations, they played really well." You could tell that they were getting mad that it didn't bother me. In reality, I wanted to strangle them, but the mental torture of them finally realizing the Cards are our biggest rival and not them was much more satisfying.

By the way, for all of those not living in the city... you're lucky. The physical and verbal abuse is getting out of hand. I feel like we need the Bears to win the Super Bowl so the whole city will be united again... at least until the spring.
