Hopefully they pull him up to sing the 7th Inning Stretch when the Sox are up 3 games to 1....

Yeah I totally saw that! What gives Bernie!?

And what was with Liz Phair singing "God Bless America." What washed up wannabe grunge act will sing at the next game? Extreme?

Josh Groban was pretty good though.

I was severely disappointed with Liz Phair going more and more commercial, one of the best artists of the early-mid 90s has sold out and while getting older has lost whatever edge she had. Exile in Guyville is still an amazing album.

this always bothered me about the "alternative" movement of music in the '90's, the idea of "selling out"

if you dont do what you did the album before, you "sold out"

Danny Elfman had it right in 1979. "There's Nothing Wrong With Capatalism"

If the sox should somehow find themselves playing a game when they're up 3 games to 1 in the series...... they'll be in Houston !!

Also had it right with the "Batman" soundtrack. Man that was sweet!

"Exile in Guyville" is a great album. But what in god's name was "Why can't I?" I think I read that she used the same song writers who do Avril Levigne stuff...so not only did she sell out, she also decided to suck.

You listen to Liz Phair's 1st album and anything of the last 7 years and it's complete 180 compared to Exile in Guyville & Whipsmart.

Progressively worse combined with moderate radio success equals sellout in my book. Moreso, the commercial success is a byproduct to the downgrade of quality.

But like Fall Out Boy (who I don't like either), she is a product of Winnetka, and that's a good thing.

I dont know what "Winnetka" is. In Minnesota, its a town....Is that a studio in Chicago? if so...cool.

I love Phair's music, and alot of the "alternative" music of the 90's. but I hated the way it was marketed....I felt it was unfair to the artists....

Winnetka is a city in the North Shore (upper class suburbs of Chicago). Smashing Pumpkins, Urge Overkill, Veruca Salt, Local H (Zion), etc..

I thought Liz Phair was marketed as the times dictated, but Whipsmart was a drop-off from Exile and then she took a 3 year break and came out the white chocolate egg and that album was god-awful.

Had she kept the same edge as Exile in Guyville, she would've had the success.

I thought Local H was from MN (or had a member from up here) as well....

Billy Corgan is from Elk Grove Village.

I seen them play at Zion Benton HS in the early 90s, birthplace of Gary Coleman!

FYI Elfman basically writes all of Burton's soundtracks, including batman, beetlejuice, edward scissorhands, pee-wee's great adventure, etc and I believe the theme from the Simpsons is Eflman.

And yeah, Phair should be deported for that performance... awful.

Local H is from Zion. Chevelle is from Grayslake. Billy Corgan's mother lives a few blocks from Wrigley (or at least she did). Eddie Vedder's mother lives in Evanston. I forgot the website, but there was a very good site that listed every celebrity from Chicago, and as much background info that could be found (high schools, etc). I'll try to find it again and post it.

Oh, and back on topic, I threw a nacho at the tv when I saw Bernie Mac in a Sox hat. "Root, root, root for the champions" my a$$. I wonder if he still has that Cubs jacket. Anyone from Chicago knows that if you're a fan, you're a fan of one team. There is no such thing as a "Chicago fan". I won't root for the White Sox, and if the situation was reversed, I wouldn't expect any Sox fans to root for the Cubs. That's just the reality you learn growing up in the city. Bernie Mac has become a bi-Sox-ual.

When I saw him on the screen in his new jacket and hat last night I swore so loud that half of Murphy's bleachers turned around to stare at me
