Congrats Houston, and my god is Oswalt a stud. I wonder how long its going to take this thread to turn into a "best fans in baseball" whining and crying about the park, the umps, the 10pm start, or whatever bs excuse they can come up with. "Best fans in baseball" your season is now OVER!!! :D

Still waiting, I see.

I haven't seen much of that on ANY boards.

I'll be rooting for the NL (Astros). I think they have a good shot.

I think Ryne Sandberg and myself are the only 2 cub fans in the world who are rooting for the white sox.

Add me to the list.

I grew up watching both teams, but was a cubbies fan through and through. How could you not like the 70's era sox? Fisk? Shorts? Fro's? Veeck? Come on! Sure this ver. is kinda odd, but I'm still rooting for the white hose.

I determined yesterday I was rooting for the Cards as I hated the 'stros more. Wow, took me all of one day to sink that ship...

Veeck was sweet. So was Disco Demolition. But they have the DH!

Congrats to Houston. But after the Red Sox lost, maybe we shouldn't be surprised that the Astros won. After all, they are a wild-card team.

I don't really hate either team. I don't plan on cheering for either. I plan on watching two pretty evenly-matched teams in what I think will be a pretty hard-fought World Series.

I am glad the city of Chicago will be getting to see a World Series, and I am also glad that Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio will finally be able to play in one.

If you like pitching, this is the series to watch.

Astros in 7.

I've been waiting my whole life for this.

Congrats Jimy and I hope we can have this happen to us sometime too!

I don't hate either team but I do hate the fact that the Cubs have never been in the WS in my lifetime.

and build yourself a major league ballpark.

Hahaha! I think I just heard Chris Burke tell you to keep it down.

And how about Berkman? He's gets 10 HRs a year hitting "cans of corn" to the opposite field in that place.

He hits those at Wrigley though too.

Not me. The Cards got beat by the better team. Good teams make thier own luck, and the Astros did it 4 out of 6 games. I'm glad the Cards made it to the NLCS. No shame in that.

That said, I hope the Sox win because it would be cool to see a WS winner in Chicago.

yeah not having Scott Rolen really makes your lineup a lot more pedestrian. That and someone needs to take poor Larry Walker out behind a shed and shoot him. That guy was great and it is hard to see him like he is now. That being said I can't root for either of these two franchises. Like 2003 there will be no World Series this year in my mind.

I just plan to watch baseball at its finest without a rooting interest. I'm really looking foward to game 1.

And how is Backe? If the Astros get into trouble, get down 2-1 or so, do you think they'll throw Clemens 3 times? If you work it right you can have 3 pitchers go a 7-game series and have Backe come out of the pen if need be.

Or you can push him back to game 5. But I think you throw Clemens in game 4 if you're down 3-0 or 2-1.

Im glad that the Cardinal fans we have here reacted the way they did. After hearing the whining about the field, I just expected to hear some crying about the umpiring. But Ill tip my cap to you guys for acting the way you have, and Ill admit I was wrong. I agree the Astros took advantage when they could, and I dont think anybody would have hit Oswalt last night....he was NASTY.

Congrats Jimy is a misspell and Mike Scott. Now go out there and obliterate the Sox, plz.

Thank you.

I'm still in shock. I've had my heart ripped out of my chest so many times. I can't believe the Astros are playing in the Series. The World Series! I was 12 in 1986 and I've grown up with heart break. I guess eveything will feel a little more real Saturday.

I have to admit, I haven't watched the Sox this year. I know most of the players from years past but I haven't seen them play as a team. On paper, it looks like a great matchup. Question. Is their rotation really that good? Everybody on ESPN picked their rotation over Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte. That's a bold statement.

Backe was amazing in the LCS this year. Just like last. The guy has some heart. I wouldn't sell him short. He had some problems in the season but so did Lamb, Burke, etc and they're all putting it together at the right time.

No way you see Clemens three times. He doesn't bounce back like he used to. He wore doen toward the end of the season. Guy's getting old. I've got faith in Backe.

Usually, picking Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia and Garland over those three + Backe would be a terrible idea, but unfortunately for you guys they have absolutely caught fire at the best possible time. Your pitchers will have to come with their A game every time out for you guys to win it all. I'm rooting for you though.

You heard it here first: Ozzie will become the first man to pitch five complete games and hit seventeen inside the park home runs in a single game.

Series prediction: Ozzie in 3 (Astros will give up and return to their homes in fear midway through the third game).

I wouldn't have picked their rotation - especially if Buehrle or Garcia have to pitch with those Crawford boxes around. The reason most have probably picked the White Sox' rotation is their #4 is better than Backe, but the Astros first 3 are better than the White Sox first 3.

He only hit 8 dingers at Minute Maid last year.

Lance is awesome, don't knock him.
