With the costs of bringing the new server online, the NSBB coffers have run dry and there's site bills to pay. I'm working on bringing some new advertisers on board to help cover the costs for future months, but the site could use some cash flow here over the next few days. So I'm running a special - sign up for premium by Saturday night and get 15 months for the price of 12. For existing premium members, I'll extend your membership from the date it is due to expire by 15 months. This only applies to annual memberships; monthly subscribers won't see this benefit.

If you've been waiting to sign up for Premium, now is the time!

I am set up monthly but just got some student loan money in. If you want I can pay for the whole year now if that will help.

That would be great. Go ahead and cancel your monthly subscription and put in the $50 and I'll adjust the records accordingly.

thanks!

Tim,

If you give me until Saturday I'd be happy to give $50.

It's a small, small price to pay for this site.

No worries. The guidelines say Saturday night. ;)

Thanks!

I'm trying to send you for a couple months, but Paypal is being really screwy and not taking my new debit card yet :(

They're saying my limit is like 2 dollars. I have more than two dollars. I know that.

Cool! Thanks, every little bit helps.

By the way...

As always if you can't support the site financially, please find a google ad you like and visit our sponsors! If you don't want to click on Keira Knightly, visit the front page where you can always find a couple text ads on the far right.

Ad clicks have really dropped off after the move to the new server for whatever reason.

Tim, I'm just curious. How much do you get per ad click???

It depends on which ad gets clicked. Google doesn't say which ads are worth what amount. It also gets blended with ads one which I get paid per view instead of per click. In general, though, it's like $0.10 - $0.20 per click or something like that. But I get docked if I get one person clicking like mad -- in fact, I'd probably have my account cancelled. That's why I just recommend that everyone not on premium try to find one ad a day that appeals to them and check it out.

When I've talked with Google, they say most sports sites get around a 1% click through rate. I typically hover around 0.1%. I was getting around 0.3% in September, which is part of what made me optimistic about being able to afford this server.

If I open an ad in a new tab in Firefox, do you get credit for the click?

Not sure what you mean. I am pretty sure that if you click on the ad, it gives me credit whether it pops up in a new window or opens in the same one.

Tim,

Do they record clicks by IP address? So, if I click once from each work computer and then again at home, they wouldn't know that's the same person, right?

I'd assume that's correct. Those google people are pretty sneaky, though!

Alrighty. I'll try to give three clicks a day all from a different ISP.

There were 1534 different people that came to NSBB yesterday and viewed pages with ads 32,205 times (and 12,190 pages without ads). There were only 37 clicks on the ads from those 1500+ people.

Hey, is Len Kasper a Premium subscriber? I know, MYOB.

And where does one subscribe to Premium these days?

And where does one subscribe to Premium these days?

Total # of premium members throughout time - 127

Not as much site revenue as it sounds, though.

- Mods get free premium

- visiting media gets free premium

- NSBB writers get free premium

- Many of the premium subscriptions were one or two month presents from one member to another around XMas

- various other folks have received free premium in return for work on the site.

Still, thanks to all those who have supported the site!

I'd assume Len is considered visiting media.
