I am so disgusted right now.

Absolutely one of the worst calls by an umpire that I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing.

If the Sox make the series and play the Cards, I know who I am rooting for. Normally, I would feel conflicted rooting for the Cardinals...not now.

Wow, that was utter nonsense.

The talk radio stations and news stations are already leading with the Angels being ripped off.

Wonder what The Score is saying right now. I don't have access to a radio.

Why is it that the Cubs never get this crap? Why do the Sox catch all the BS breaks? Why do they always always get lucky like this? It's what got them in, and now it's getting them further into the playoffs.

Because God hates the Cubs. Eveyone knows that...

;)

Crazy call. Denkinger has company now.

And those White Sox shills on Comcast Sportsnet are saying "of course it hit the ground".

Really if this doesn't put replay in baseball I don't know what will. Horrible call on so many levels. The worst part seems to be the Ump lying about what he originally called. Guy should be fired tomorrow.

That was a terrible call, but you still have to get the next guy out. Crede came up with a big hit when he needed to. Yeah he shouldnt have been up, but the pitcher still has to get the next guy out that is his job.

Denkinger won't have company if the Halos win this series anyway. Scioscia won't let his team dwell on the call. The Angels will still win the series in seven just like I said before the series began.

The pitcher did his job, he got three outs. He had to get four outs because of a ump that should be out of a job tomorrow.

I can't hate the White Sox for that, though. Put the Cubs in the White Sox situation. Say it's Walker at the plate and the same thing happens, and he runs down to first, etc etc. We'd all think it was great. Sure,we'd admit that we got a huge break, but we'd take the win.

I blame the umps, not the White Sox.

There are very, very few things that could make me root for the Cardinals. I'd still root for the White Sox if the two teams met.

Rule 6.09

When a batter becomes a base runner on a third strike not caught by the catcher and starts for the dugout, or his position, and then realizes his situation and attempts then to reach first base, he is not out unless he or first base is tagged before he reaches first base. If, however, he actually reaches the dugout or dugout steps, he may not then attempt to go to first base and shall be out.

Maybe, but I don't think so. The Angels are gonna run outta gas soon. This game might be a series killer for them.

On the other series, I told everyone at work today the whoever won game 1 was going to win the series. Looking like Cards/Sox to me!

I do think replay should be instuted for close calls. What could someone possibly have against making sure the correct call is made?

Someone would have to call for it. The umps probably wouldn't because of thier egos, and I don't know how well letting opposing managers replay things would go over, but you'd have to have someone in charge of replays who would call for one on a play like this and then have the umps look at it and review.

Agree he did his job, but you have to get over that and get the next out. ITs the same thing as an error, yeah you should have been out of the inning. But at that point he still had a chance to get out of the inning. Crede came up big and got the hit. Yeah the Angels got screwed on the call but they still had a chance to get out of it without damage.

i agree with you. Situations like these are why baseball needs some form of a replay system for real close calls.

Look at it this way: the goal of an away team is to take 1 of the first 2. They did that. They can win without having to come back to Chicago.

well im not saying for EVERY play but situations like this and the Crede play where he got thrown out at 2nd (and yes Crede was definitely out at 2nd, just using it as an example though)..it would be nice if they could review them to make sure they are right.

If they really wanted to there is the technology today to automate most every call on the baseball field. Frankly the sooner all major league umps are out of a job the better. Besides the NBA, MLB has the worst officiating.

I very much doubt we'll hear talk about replay in the coming days. Or, if we do, it'll be speculation by sportscasters and MLB won't even consider the idea.

Of the four major sports, baseball is the one most reluctant to change, IMO.

He's just one of those misguided Chicagoans that think you should pull together and root for the city to have a championship.
