I hate the "bad calls are part of the game" theory.

They shouldn't be. They don't have to be. If these guys were any good they wouldn't be.

I can understand the ump blowing that call. He couldn't see, he shouldn't be able to see if he's positioned correctly. The problem was his catestrophic failure to do anything after the strike motion right.

Fun speculation: how would ozzie have reacted had this happened to the sox?

Hmm. 5.7% is pretty high for a BS call like that.. Must be the WhiteSox bangwagoners who think they know everything because their team is in the ALCS..

Given the increased interest of whitesox fans in everything related to the game, 6% wouldn't be terribly surprising for the number of sox fans voting in that poll. even though they're probably below the 3.3% average per team, that number goes way up with bandwagoners+other baseball fans not paying attention with their teams out

The series shifts to Anaheim with RHP Jon Garland (18-10, 3.50 ERA) making his playoff debut against RHP John Lackey (regular season: 14-5, 3.44 ERA; ALDS: 0-0, 2.38 ERA, 11.2 IP).

Tune in to see the reaction umpire Doug Eddings gets in Anaheim!

Game-time Weather: Sunny and an extremely dry 88°F (with an abnormally warm high of 91°F for the day).

GO ANGELS!

I'm more interested to see the reaction to a certain White Sox catcher.

Since he was the one who made the call in the first place. Get off his tail, it's not his fault the ump messed up. If Barrett made that play, you'd all be lauding it as a great heads up play.

Ugh. 3-0 WS after 1/2 inning.

I did like this McCarver line though:

"There are more home runs hit off of breaking balls and offspeed pitches than any other pitch in the game."

Umm, you mean a fastball? How many other pitches are there?

Would you be saying the same thing if Bengie did that to the Sox?

Shockingly, the Angels appear to have come out flat after the way Game 2 ended.

See, I figured all the travel would really hit them hard, not in chicago, but once they got back to LA. Having game 2 end in such a craptacular way doesnt help, either.

Wow, Lou is terrible. I guess I don't have to point that out, just felt like mentioning it.

True story: My wife comes in and I said, "You gotta listen to this guy, he's terrible", to which she replies, "Worse than Buck?"

With the way the player who brought the Cubs Karchner is pitching, probably need more than a rally monkey at this stage.
