Anybody notice just how WHITE the Astros are??

I'm not claiming anything here, I just was looking at their roster and was suprised with what I saw. I really dislike the constant use of the race card when it is not even close to be a racial issue, and I really think this is more likely poor/no international scouting.

Raul Chavez is Venezuelan

 

Wandy Rodriguez

Jose Vizcaino &

Willy Taveres are Dominican

 

Orlando Palmeiro is born and raised in the US, but obviously hispanic

 

the other 20 are white americans.

 

 

I just checked their 40 man and they've got a ton of Venezuelan's, so it looks like my theory on lack of international scouting is probably right and it's been recently addressed.

Actually, the Astros are well known for having one of the most highly developed pipelines into Venezuela. I think it is simply an anomoly that their roster is currently constructed that way.

Maybe it has something to do with only drafting players who's last name begins with B.

you think they are white, checkout the A's. The only one of their starters i can think of that isnt white is Chavez. All of their starting pitchers and there closer.

Chavez is hispanic, but he's at least second generation american born in LA.

 

Bullpen has some flavor - Calero, Cruz, Dotel, Rincon, Garcia, and Yabu.

Yeah i guess their bullpen has a lot of guys, for some reason i thought that their bullpen had a lot of white guys to. I guess the Astros are a lot whiter.

At least in Houston, they can control the temp of the dome. If it gets about 70, they can turn on the AC and bring it down to 60, so they can play better.

It gets hot for like 2 weeks in September in Oakland, so the players don't struggle with the heat after the game like they would in Houston.

Man I knew Purpura was the GM too... where has my head been lately? I agree with you, Hunsicker has a good shot at the job in Philly, if Cashman doesn't leave New York.
