And I now see why so many Cubs fans hate Roy Oswalt. Granted, I'm mad he beat us, mainly that we wasted a great game by Mulder, but he really is one punk azz motha. There's just something about him that makes you want to punch him in the face.

Wow, you're a bitter little man. Why is he a punk? B/c he shut you down?

Jeez, that response is lamer than 1st inning curtain calls from the "best fans in baseball."

no because he is a punk. He should have fought Barrett last year after he threw at him. Little punk. Barrett would have broke him like a twig. Clemens isn't a punk, Oswalt is.

Hey, we can argue about who was at fault there, but I can at least understand why you cubs fans would have something against him. But moron above just doesn't like the fact that his boys were dominated by Roy. That's lame (but what do you expect from fans who give 1st inning curtain calls  ).

Well since my relatives are also cardinalfans, I am rooting for the Cardinals in this one, that with the fact I think they are a far superior team. I mean your starting pitching is great, but if you get past Ensberg and Berkman you really don't have a lot as far as lineup goes. Either way when it is all said and done I think they will beat you because they have the best player in the game. If you wanna win this series you have to win tonight if Morris beats Clemens I think it is done.

Their lineup is no doubt better, but it's not the murder's row it was last year, esp. with Walker and Sanders hurting (what good is the best player in the game, if he's not protected in the lineup). And the 'stros roatation, and bullpen are better than the cards, so I say it's a wash. You're correct though, need to win today.

BTW, Barrett should get some talent before he talks to a stud like Roy.

Quick, name 3 catchers better than Michael Barrett, or any NL catchers better.

Note: This is not possible.

I happen to really like Oswalt and his approach to the game. Instead of Barrett talking to Oswalt when he arrived at the plate, the pitcher should've drilled Oswalt or the best player on the team (Berkman/Beltran) or both. Barrett running his mouth w/out knocking the crap out of Oswalt does nothing.

So far no Cards starter has given up more than 2 ER in a playoff game. On the other hand, you have Clemens with five, Pettitte with five and three, and Oswalt with three.

We need to tweak the bullpen and right now that means very modest use of Tavarez. Our starters need to go deeper into the games and get the ball to Izzy. In the regular season, our bullpen had a 3.22 ERA to Astros 3.66. I know you're not using your last bullpen guys and we're missing Reyes, but I don't see enough evidence to give a defacto nod to Astros starters and bullpen. Plus, we've added a valuable Marquis in relief.

We'll also see how Sanders is affected by his outfield mishap. He's hardly been weak in the post season, minus the last game against Oswalt who no Card could hit. I'd say his 12 RBIs give Pujols enough protection. Granted, Walker is a question mark. If I were the Cards, I'd think long and hard about giving Walker's spot to Taguchi, batting him second and moving Edmonds to the cleanup spot. Edmonds has been far from effective, but we are playing the next three games in Minute Maid.

Right he should have ripped his head off got suspended for like 20 games down the stretch last year so Bako could have been the catcher on a team struggling to score runs. That would have been smart. Barrett was actually very smart in not ripping his head off. This year after we were out of it he should have though.

Why do it this year, the Cubs already laid down and played dead in '04, what good is that going to do?

As we found out, Barrett being there and Barrett not being wan't the difference in the Cubs playing horribly the week of '04.

It would've been smart for the pitcher to drill a player, Barrett running his mouth did nothing.

Did I insult you? Because that is uncalled for. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't level petty insults against me, seeing as you don't know me.

Don't get your feelings hurt, it's a message board.

Anyway, I didn't insult you, I insulted your ridiculously stupid statement .

Although it's a message board, it is a message board with guidelines.

But moron above

Not sure how that statement is attacking a post.

Is that not a moronic post?

I've been here a long time, I think most people will vouch that I am not a flamer. This guy's crying and all I did was call out his dumb post.

Attack the post, not the poster.

I'm crying so hard I can barely see to type.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any NLDS Series Champion banners to accompany that moronic Wild Card Champions banner at Minute Maid Park. Edited by gflore34
