The best option right now is an Angels-Cardinals World Series. I don't much like the Cardinals, but the fact is that with a healthy team, the Cubs would have been much better than Houston this season. The Cards are a good team that deserves to be in and their fans are, for the most part, classy. As for the Angels, I don't particularly care for them either, but they're not the White Sox or the Yankees.

If we have a ChiSox-Stros Series I might just go 2003 and pretend that baseball ended early.

I have to say "Go Cards" because of the fan difference too. St. Louis fans are awesome(at least compared to Astros fans). I also have grandparents who live in St. Louis and are true blue Cards fans.

Really, though, GO ANGELS!!! I couldn't think of 4 teams i dislike more than the Cards, Astros, Yanks and Sox.

Keep in mind that anyone wanting the Astros to win is just asking for another week of that inane train whistle and god-awful piped in bee noise.

Angels >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Astros >> White Sox >>>> Cardinals

If the Astros win it all, I won't have to deal with a ton of excessively annoying Astros fans since I know maybe one or two of them. I know more Cardinals and White Sox fans than a Cub fan can tolerate in life and can't stand the majority of them.

Go Angels!

Guess it depends on where one lives. Since I live in Louisiana, I know of plenty of Astros' fans and don't like most of them. And unlike you, if the Astros' were to win it all, I would have to deal with a TON of them down here. Believe you me they are a bunch I don't care to deal with much.

Cards

Sox

Angels

Houston

I would love to see a Cards/Sox series. Chicago deserves to have a World Series. I would love to see what the town is like during one. That said, the Angels are a very good team with a lot of players I can respect. Anyone but the Astros for obvious reasons.

I guess this kind of surprises me, I thought the Cubs/Cards hatred ran a little deeper.

Hatred by some. Healthy respect for most.

Same is true for me and the Astros.

I agree, Cubs/Cards 'hatred' is mostly a myth. There are some bitter fans on both sides but mostly it is a healthy, friendly rivalry. I would rather have the Cards win than the Astros or the Sox because a) their fans aren't obnoxious and b) they're probably the best team remaining and they deserve to win.

I guess I just got a different impression from reading the Cards' boards.

Different audience/membership, but I can definitely see why you'd get that impression.

The ironic thing is if Dusty was gone, it would take whatever teeth remain in the "hatred" of the baseline Cards fan, plus it would benefit the Cubs.

The Cardinal fans aren't obnoxious? You must have never been to St. Louis before. They are some of the most arrogant and obnoxious fans that I've met. Of course I say that respectfully.

By the way, I was upset to see the Yankees lose last night. If the Cards have to be in the World Series, I wanted them playing the Yankees so the whole world could see all the hypocrites booing Giambi, but giving McGwire a standing ovation.

The one time I was in STL, it was the airport. A couple of stereotypical 30 somethings stood near me in the bar watching a game. They were the most condescending A's I've ever heard.

You should've heard a bunch of the fans (especially those that only come out for postseason) griping about the 10 pm CT start on Saturday. They really think the world is out to get St. Louis. Never mind the fact that the Yankees had a 10 pm ET game two ALDS against the Angels and the Padres had a 10 am PT game in game one of the NLDS. I will put up my obnoxious Cardinal fan against obnoxious White Sox fan and obnoxious Yankee fan any day.
