This is a great thread by all involved. Combine this with Rogers piece here:

Wow, it almost looks like someone ripped off my material. But at least Rogers plays to a bigger audience. Rogers also touched on things I didn't bother with. The OBP issue alone should be enough to consider making some changes around here.

Sullivan wrote that, did he not?

Whoops, I was quoting the person who originally put Rogers.

Yikes, do my preachings sound like Sullivan?

No, you didn't throw in some random, irrelevant stats like Blanco's CS% or Ramirez's Fielding Pct. to try and sound edgy.

Atlanta had as many injuries as we did, but didn't make excuses and wasn't afraid to rely on rooks.

Houston has NO OFFENSE whatsoever and still made it to the post season. You have to take the strengths of a team and RIDE IT. Baker never gave this team an identity, other than "it's not our fault"

Of course it is not all Bakers fault, but that doesn't mean he is immune from blame in general. he was attrocious this year, and smug about it too boot.

Please god, don't give Baker an extension! Show some mercy!

That's the way it has been for the last two years.

I agree and have been saying as much for a while now.

Sometimes, a fan's frustration can get the better of him/her, and they reach the point of hating a team's manager. Once you cross that line, you loose all objectivity and start seeing evidence of that manager's incompetence even where there isn't any. I feel that has happened quite a bit in some of the Dusty Baker threads on this board.

I have endeavored to maintain my objectivity and have defended Baker when I saw that he was being wrongly and needlessly attacked. But I have never wavered from my belief that Baker should be fired based on his performance alone.

What are you waiting for, Jim? Trammel, McKeon and Tracy have all been fired. Now is the perfect time.

From today's Tribune:

• Derrek Lee hit .331 with runners in scoring position, with 64 RBIs in 124 at-bats. Atlanta's Andruw Jones, a leading MVP candidate along with St. Louis' Albert Pujols, hit only .207 with runners in scoring position. But Jones had 60 more at-bats in those situations than Lee, and had 72 RBIs with runners in scoring position.

• Corey Patterson had 208 at-bats in the No. 1 or No. 2 slots, despite a .254 overall on-base percentage. Cubs leadoff hitters combined for a .245 average, 30 points below the league average. Patterson's strikeout-to-walk ratio was just over 5 to 1 (118 strikeouts, 23 walks). Patterson took 42.6 percent of the pitches he saw, lowest in the league. The second lowest in pitches taken was 46.3 percent by Neifi Perez.

• Matt Murton had 140 at-bats after being called up on July 7 and walked 16 times. Perez played in 154 games, had 572 at-bats and walked only 18 times. Despite a .298 on-base percentage, Perez had 382 combined at-bats in the No. 1 or No. 2 slots. He averaged one walk for every 33.8 plate appearances, lowest in the league.

I especially like the highlighted part.

Looks like my post went up before his article did.

It wouldn't be the first time that I've had suspicions that Sullivan ripped off something from the site.

To be fair, I really can't tell what was posted first. The article has an official post time. My post has a post time, but the post time doesn't match my clock. For example, it's 5:20pm Pacific time as I click submit.

The post time says 6:45pm.

According to my fuzzy math, my post was made at 5:45pm Pacific. Sullivan's article was posted at 7pm Pacific.

Good post. Even if you want him gone, as I do, one should still remain objective. Leave the all or nothing approach to our president.

I like BBB much better than Sullivan, but I seriously doubt that Paul ran with his idea. The article has to be submitted, edited, headlined, and posted on the web. The post time isn't when it was finished, but rather when it was web-posted. And Sullivan has nothing to do with that. That article could have been finished and submitted at 3:00 PM for all we know.

Ha! I just didn't want any confusion that we were one and the same.

BBB, your picture is available on this site. I don't think there can be any confusion. :D
